We play Costa Rica and Mexico this month...if we can beat Costa Rica and draw with Mexico then that puts us in an even better position headed into the January 2022 window of games

Rivers FC in Kamloops is the third announced team for the new League 1 BC - they'll be in partnership with Thompson Rivers University including using their Hillside stadium.

Guelph defeated Oakville to win L1ON, which means that Guelph will be the league's representative in the 2022 Canadian Championship. Will be interesting to see if they can retain their former-CPL talent including Jace Kotsopoulos, who opted for school during COVID rather than full-time footy. He scored over a goal/game in L1ON and is definitely good enough to make the jump back to CPL next year.

With all that said, first time appearances for Guelph and Mont-Royal in next year's Canadian Championship.

Very stoked for this expansion! This is Hillside stadium that they'll be playing out of.

The Bob McCown Podcast
John Herdman on coaching Canada‘s Women‘s & Mens National Soccer Teams & trying to qualify for the 2022 World Cup.
Fadoo Productions November 9 2021

Head coach of Canada's Men's Soccer team, John Herdman, joins the podcast for a rare soccer podcast with Bob and John.

We talk about his experience coaching Canada's women's program and how he is going to translate his success with them to the men's side. We get some insight on the differences & the similarities he has noticed between the men and the women and his overall appreciation for our Canadian athletes.

With the MNT currently vying for a spot in the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, we talk to John about his team, their line up and the advantage his team has hosting games in Canada.

7pm start which is absurd given the time of year.

Start it at 530, hell 2pm.

I am going and am looking forward to it but succumbing to TV time slots makes for a reduced experience as a fan like usual.

In terms of fan experience, I like the fact that they priced tickets reasonably and will get a good crowd as a result. That should make it pretty fun. It's a refreshing change from the usual big-event practice of charging an arm and a leg for tickets, often resulting in many empty seats.

Also a good play when Canada plays at home again and they are looking for where to play the game. Full stands and a good atmosphere should be a big selling point.

I'd love to see Mosaic fix the turf and get an opportunity to host a friendly some time.

How is Canada expected to play a home match in a nation that isn't Canada?

Classic. Canada's largest open-air stadium is nearing sellouts for two mid-November games and somehow it was still the wrong choice. Edmonton has arguably supported our national soccer teams more than any other city in the country for decades and still people question the decision to host major games here.

Tough.
