Wow someone else remembers that Water-park? As a kid, I went there several times. It was located in Waverley Heights Shopping Centre, which is now a Play-It-Again Sports if I am not mistaken. It did not last long. 1984-86 I believe.

Was this the indoor waterslide place? I remember going there for a birthday party in ~1985ish

So it seems they built Dreamscape - only in China of course. The New Century Global Center in Chengdu. 19 million sq ft, 7 billion US dollars.

I went there last year. It is big. All of the retail space was occupied, but it was very quiet as far as malls go. But the beach wasn't open.

So supposedly this place is 18,000,000 sq ft. if Dreamscape were to be built to its full square mile that would instantly make it the largest building in the world at over 27,000,000 sq. ft. Which, by the way, is over one and a half times bigger than this place in Chengdu. There's big, and then there's absurdly big, which is probably why this was a pipe dream from the beginning.

Yes, short lived. It was two slides. I went only a handfull of times (I was very young) but it was always packed. There were rumours a kid got hurt pretty bad on the slides.

It was then a restaurant (Malibu, I believe it was called), two levels. Went there a few times.

You don't have much to worry about. You should only worry if you learn that Kim Jong Il has been researching catapult technology and has his heart set on the Trebuchet 6000.
