Not sure if they'll keep updating it, but Kilroy has some demolition photos and a webcam of construction online:

For those wondering, we now have a hard number (455 feet) for the new height with the three additional floors:

I'm not sure how they're counting floors here, but either way, it comes out to 30 totals floors.

Ceremonial groundbreakings seem ridiculous sometimes, but here it was for 350 today:

The official press release doesn't seem to have any new info in it.

The video is really cool, and informative. This building will have bike lockers and showers!

No real progress here (visible at least). Bummer - I want a crane and steel rising now! They have also made it more difficult to see inside the site now

This as I have said before should definitely be in Highrise Construction. Kilroy is the sponsor, the construction loan was issued a while back, the base for the tower crane has even made it on-site, though nothing has been put up, and most importantly in the largest deal in the city in years Salesforce.com pre-leased the entire building! This is going up...LoL

That webcam really brings home how tight this construction site is.

Webcam this morning:

This thing has made serious progress in the last week - can't see in the hole from the street, but webcam indicates that excavation and shoring is nearly complete. This will rise more slowly, but simultaneously as 535 Mission a block and a half away. Can we expect the blue crane to be gone and a tower crane to be installed this week or the next?

This is interesting - amendment to be voted on August 15 wants to add up to 6 floors for total height of building 431 ft to top of roof, or 455 ft to top of mechanical. Right now the building is approved for 340,000 SF office, but this could increase to 432,095 SF.

Thanks for the update. I was wondering when they were going to vote on the height increase. It was first mentioned last December when the salesforce lease was announced.

One thing that's confused me is the floor count and height increase. The building has frequently been mentioned as 27 floors and about 375'. Back when the salesforce lease was announced, they mentioned increasing it "three stories" to 30 floors, but with no height mentioned. Now they are mentioning raising it six stories from 24 to 30 floors, with the height going up to 455'.

So, I looked up the planning PDF from when this building was first up for approval back in 2011. It looks like the source of the floor count inconsistency was in how the floors were counted. They count the second floor mezzannine as spanning from floor 2 to 4, and they skip floor 13. So, essentially, they are skipping floors 3, 4, and 13. If you count the mezzannine as three floors, and skip the 13th floor you get 27 floors. If you count the mezzannine as one floor, and include the 13th floor, you get 24 floors. Here's the original plan, showing the 27 floor count, skipping 3, 4, and 13:

So, if the total height of the building is going from 375' to 455' (+80'), it sounds like they are adding a legitimate 6 floors to the height, not 3 as previously reported. If you look closely, each floor on the diagram above is 13'-2" in height, so six more floors of the same height would add exactly 79', and the extra foot is probably due to rounding. That will bring the new floor count to 30 or 33, depending on whether some floor numbers are skipped.

^^^That's similar to the way I interpreted the notice as well. I assumed they were talking 24 "office" floors, with 3 floors for the lobby/mezzanine, but I see now they don't have a 13.

344' roof, 374' mechanical to 431' roof, 455' mechanical. 14'5" slab to slabs, 15,349sf per floor...sounds about right. Question is, are the floorplates 15,000 SF, or is that RSF or USF? 340,000 SF / 24 floors is 14,167 SF a floor, whereas the addition of 92,095 SF for 6 more floors produces 15,349 SF a floor. Are they talking usable, or rentable? I would expect both of those to change somewhat for higher floors as opposed to lower floors...though it's a single tenant occupant building, so the change wouldn't be that dramatic...

Right now I sit at about where the mechanical for this building would end - I am at roughly 380-385 ft up. So I am GLAD this is going to be taller.

Just wanted to be the one to report that there appears to be a 75+% chance that they are installing the crane right now:

I will head over in a few hours to snap a pic with my iPhone as it looks like the fence along 1st is down (allowing view access).
