Thanks for the update. I was wondering when they were going to vote on the height increase. It was first mentioned last December when the salesforce lease was announced.
One thing that's confused me is the floor count and height increase. The building has frequently been mentioned as 27 floors and about 375'. Back when the salesforce lease
was announced, they mentioned increasing it "three stories" to 30 floors, but with no height mentioned. Now they are mentioning raising it six stories from 24 to 30 floors, with the height going up to 455'.
So, I looked up the
planning PDF from when this building was first up for approval back in 2011. It looks like the source of the floor count inconsistency was in how the floors were counted. They count the second floor mezzannine as spanning from floor 2 to 4, and they skip floor 13. So, essentially, they are skipping floors 3, 4, and 13. If you count the mezzannine as three floors, and skip the 13th floor you get 27 floors. If you count the mezzannine as one floor, and include the 13th floor, you get 24 floors. Here's the original plan, showing the 27 floor count, skipping 3, 4, and 13:
So, if the total height of the building is going from 375' to 455' (+80'), it sounds like they are adding a legitimate 6 floors to the height, not 3 as previously reported. If you look closely, each floor on the diagram above is 13'-2" in height, so six more floors of the same height would add exactly 79', and the extra foot is probably due to rounding. That will bring the new floor count to 30 or 33, depending on whether some floor numbers are skipped.
