[PHOTOS] St. John's in 2015 (Share Yours!)

New camera finally arrived. Christened it today with a lunch-time drive up Signal Hill. I tried out the in-camera HDR setting and a few other ones. Awful. I could barely salvage what remained - but it's all good.

I had to sneak out for a few night shots, despite the fact it's gusting up to 100 km/hr and is -4C.

I'll need to play with the settings more. They're not quite the same as I was used to with the old camera.

This is the last year for the Signal Hill Star. It's being replaced next year by a new one, which will hopefully be the compass-based option. Voting ended yesterday, I believe, but I haven't heard yet which won.

I had a Canon EOS Rebel T3i. And I went with the Canon EOS Rebel T5i.

It, like my last camera, feels like a toy. It's entry level but it does everything I'll need it to do.

A gorgeous evening for a photo run. I tried to get some different scenes - and update a few of my favourites now that 351 and Fortis Place are just about finished.

It's still very windy so a lot were blurred - I managed to salvage these.

Any historians here know when, why and who started painting the houses in such vibrant colours? It seems to be quite prevalent in SJ and almost unique in whole Canada. Painting houses in bright colours itself isn't unique, but it's been taken to a whole new level in SJ. It will be interesting to know.

Very late response here haha, sorry....it was a part of a downtown revitalization strategy in I believe the 70s (or possibly early 80s).
