We are not there yet, but each and every game we are looking better and better.

I was impressed by the 2-1 win against Chicago after winning against Nashville the night before. That's a good back-back for the Oilers.

Flames - Leafs tonight, should be a good one. The Flames rebounded against the Caps in a big way (despite the shootout loss) and should be motivated against a high powered Leafs team tonight.
Matthews out for 4 weeks and no Nylander signing on the horizon. Need Kadri to keep his momentum rolling and hopefully kapanen can slot in next to Tavares nicely for tonight.

The Leafs should trade Nylander, they could probably convince Edmonton to trade one of their few D for another scoring forward lol. Maybe Montreal will give them Price and a first rounder since they like dumb trades lol.

Oilers could have easily been 0-10 in their first 10 games the way the schedule looked at the beginning of the season. I'd say 6-3-1 is a huge positive for that team, they beat some very tough teams.

Carolina made the most sense as a trading partner with a plethora of young D. They need someone to slot in beside Aho who looks like a true #1 center going forward.
Dubas needs to win this though. It's going to set the precedent for the bigger negotiations next year. I'm fairly certain they have it budgeted down to the dollar how much they can pay for each of the 3 young guys to make it work after signing Tavares. Nylander is probably being influenced by his dad who was always an asshole in negotiations and apparently a "me first" type of player. Team can't afford to budge and lose this one though.

Why would Edmonton trade for a player they don't need and give up an asset they sorely require?

I agree. I think a Nylander-Faulk swap might work pretty well for both teams.
