Shit, this is awesome!
My post in the weather thread, June 10, 2008

Quote:
HOTTEST DAY IN 2008 FOR MONTREAL

31C and with humidex 39C.

I think this is the highest humidex recorded in Canada this year!!!

At around 2PM, the blue sky dissapeared and black clouds came. It rained for around 10 minutes, BUT IT WAS INTENSE. Winds up to 110km/h, a lot of damages done to trees and even houses. Around 250 000 houses without power.
But after those 10mins, the sun came out again!!!

CBC.ca
7 trucks overturned and almost fell in the water!!!
Quote:
Violent weather overturned seven trucks on the Champlain bridge in Montreal, after a severe thunderstorm warning was issued Tuesday. One person suffered minor injuries.

Transport Quebec urged drivers to delay their commute home Tuesday evening, as the bridge closure caused major traffic jams throughout the downtown sector.

Authorities said it would take hours to remove the trucks from the bridge, which connects Montreal with Brossard, on the South Shore.

"It was very horrible," said Andy Kochal, who told CBC Radio he was driving on to the Champlain bridge when he saw some of the trucks tip over. "Some of [the trucks] were on the edge of the bridge, some people were stuck inside."

Kochal said the rain was so intense he couldn't make out billboards on the side of the highway.

"I was scared because of the weather," he said. "The rain was pouring and you couldn't see anything in front of your car."

High winds also are being blamed for a power outage at Trudeau International Airport, where several outgoing flights were delayed Tuesday afternoon.

The gusts also knocked out power lines in the greater Montreal region, affecting at least 255,000 Hydro-Québec clients in the greater Montreal area, Laval, the Laurentians and Lanaudière. Some trees were uprooted in Montreal's west end.

Gusting winds left a pair of window washers stranded 35 storeys in the air at Place Montreal Trust. Their work platform started swinging so hard from side to side that "at one point, it was perpendicular to the building and was blowing in the wind," said Jeff Smith, an office worker in the downtown building.

Smith and his co-workers watched on the edge of their seats with a "front row view" as the cleaners clung to the platform for nearly a half hour, Smith told CBC Radio.

They eventually gained access to the building on another floor through a broken window, he said.

Heavy thunderstorms were also developing south of Cornwall, Ont., while gusts of more than 90 km/h were reported south of the U.S. border.

Environment Canada said the storms could also generate large hail stones, heavy rain and frequent lightning. The weather service said some of the storms are particularly intense and one of them could produce a tornado.

People in the region are advised to take precautions

A storm moves into the city of Kitchener. Some great shots of downtown near the end.

Here's highway 8, as shown by some guy speeding pretty fast down it. Probably the kind of guy who I'd flip off.
