Lightbulb 100 Wealthiest Zip Codes in the US

An eye-opening look into where the mega-rich actually are (at least the ones that pay taxes and have not heard of "off-shore tax shelters").

Somewhere in Fresno, CA is #11

Other surprises: Chattanooga is #13, followed by some zip code in Dayton. 90210? Not there, which is another nail in the coffin for Beverly Hills's reputation.

I apologize for the table formatting but click below for the source site.

EXTREMELY surprised by the lack of Oakland County. or anything in Michigan, for that matter.
Somebody school me on that Dayton zip code.

I don't know how seriously I should take that list (Fresno, lol)

Maybe I don't understand this chart. How can you have an "adjusted gross income" of $27,000 and an "income per return" of $955,000? Everybody in the zip code would have to be the deduction champ of the world.

If you go to the link you can rerun the list for areas with higher numbers of returns. Even if you just specify 1,000 returns you'll start seeing more of the usual suspects (Philly Main Line, etc.).

^^^The thing still comes up with a zipcode in Fremont CA (Fremont??) that has 21,000 returns with an average adjusted gross of $1.95 million. I'm just not believing that.

Completely agree, the sample is waaaaaay to small to draw these sort of conclusions. The results are seriously skewed and showing that somewhere in Fresno is above Atherton and Beverly Hills or Malibu are not on there? How is Corpus or Dayton above Medina, home of Bill Gates, among other billionaires in a tiny area?

I wonder if there's something that could be throwing it off - for example a tax preparation service?

This list is an example of how statistics can be very misleading when used the "wrong" way.

Neither did my old stomping ground. Carnegie Hill, UES, 10128 or 10028, to say even more, Carnegie's old stomping ground didn't even makes the list...

That said the Upper East Side is actually (now) one of the more affordable parts of Manhattan, that's why I had an apartment there.

^^^ interesting, I just googled the Fresno zip and up comes one of the lowest income areas of the city, the area east of the 41/south of the 180 is where you go to return cans and get parts from the junkyard.
