Weiwuying Opera House to livestream Turandot performance

Aug. 28 (CNA) Opera fans across the world are in for a treat as they can watch a livestream of Puccini's Turandot performed at Taiwan's National Kaohsiung Center for the Arts (Weiwuying) Opera House on Friday.
The performance will be streamed live on the center's YouTube channel so anyone unable to purchase a ticket will be able to join the audience, Weiwuying said in a statement.
The 3,722 seats for two performances on Friday and Sunday sold out within a week of going on sale, Weiwuying publicist Ken Chang (張家銘) told CNA.
Puccini's Turandot, an international opera co-production by Weiwuying and German opera company Deutsche Oper am Rhein, has more than 350 singers and musicians taking part in the performance, Chang said.
The production's world premiere was in Europe in 2015, Chang added.

"Please tune in and experience the magic of love together with Princess Turandot," Weiwuying said.
Turandot, which tells the story of an emperor's daughter who beheads suitors who are unable to answer three riddles, was composed by late Italian opera composer Giacomo Puccini.
