I don't love this building, but the reasons given here are just uninformed. This building is shorter than a building two blocks away, so it's not increasing the height in the immediate surroundings. The Rand Building is an urban classic designed to be part of a city street scape, not to be viewed from far away. Go to any block in Manhattan and look around for an example. If she had valid reasons to give such as creating a shadow on an existing landmark that was designed to catch sunlight or something, I'd listen. But her reasons are lame.
