Not bad, not bad at all...

Definitely one of the better buildings to grace NYC's skyline

That's pretty awesome. Looks potentially iconic.

The Grand Central-area skyline will be absurd in a decade or so. You could have a half-dozen supertalls, and mostly in the 1,400-1,500 ft. range.

Yeah this gun' be good.

The shape is amazing. And more detailed images are going to show Foster's genius for finishing touches. About as good as I could have imagined. This is fine news. Very fine indeed

Looks good! Has the official height been announced? By comparing with One Vanderbilt (1401 ft) in this photo, it seems to be around 1403 ft as we expected, but it could also be slightly shorter.

I like the height increase, although I was hoping Chase would try to surpass the 1431-foot 111 West 57th St. Nonetheless, I shouldn't complain!

NEW YORK | 270 Park Ave | 1,425 FT | 70 FLOORS | DEMO

NyGuy hasn't posted yet, but he's going to have a good morning when he sees this. Somebody get him a defibrillator, he might not be able to handle it.

Now just edit the ugly Tower Fifth out and that skyline shot will be perfect.

Tower fifth has potential to complement this IMO, the top just needs to be fixed

Maybe someone can help me here:

In the sketchups I noticed very slight setbacks/recesses/what do you call them?!? going up each "slab" of the tower, but as closely as I can see in the CGI render and physical model, they look plumb with each other all around.

Is that what the YIMBY report was referring to using the word "staggered"?

Does this make sense?

This has vastly exceeded my expectations! As much as I like pointy crowns topped with a spire, this design works well without a spire. The still bulky nature of the crown is refreshing.

Yes, it is a good morning indeed! Now we can finally start putting the skyline together in our minds. It's a little bulky, but that was expected. The profile is pretty good, and still makes it a New York tower. It has a great crown, which will likely be lit at night. And you just know the facade will be great. The model also reveals the staggered facade, which adds another dimension. Now just wondering the exact color scheme.

One thing that I will add is that we also get the sheer walls on the north and south sides, in addition to the classic setbacks.

Pretty good I guess. Not a big fan of the diamonds/up-down elevator buttons, I think it would look bettter as X braces or not at all. Looking forward to seeing this one rise. Will be interesting to see if a giant Chase logo will be proposed for inside the crown.

At least now we can concentrate more of our snark efforts in tearing apart the Hotel Penn/Facebook tower...
