Similar photo to the ones recently posted, but I was visiting the city this weekend, so I thought I'd still share. Taken by me on my phone on 08/22/2021.

Curious... Why are those 2 little buildings on the corner still there?

I feel like this project would better complete the block if extended. Those 2 buildings are in rough shape, and the sidewalks out front.

I believe they were only able to acquire the one on the corner, but the bar next door wouldn't sell. It's been a while so I could be wrong.

That stinks. Hopefully they get spruced up after this tower is complete, especially the corner building. It would be a good spot for a fast-casual restaurant.

i love this, to be honest. these idiosyncrasies are what make a city interesting. philly needs these little pockets of weirdness to stay philly, and to have it on the most major commercial corridor in the city seems both appropriate and hilarious.

I’m sure that someone else remembers better than I do, but I believe that the corner property is owned by the same entity as the high-rise. I believe there is a low rise project planned for that site. As for the bar that wouldn’t sell, I don’t expect it to change much.

Bar owner is a hero. Count me among those who believe we are better off with narrower, more varied buildings. Don't turn Philly into Phoenix.

The corner property is owned by the same developer, yes. I don't recall any announced projects for the site, but I could have missed it.

They'll sell. It's just a matter of when. When the right offer is made.

I remember when Wegman's was building a major urban build and bought up all the crappy storefronts except one - a wig shop. I mean, the prospects for the wig shop were bleak at best and they protracted this "battle" with Wegman's for years. They said over and over they would never sell.

Someone must have told them that a brick and mortar wig shop had limited prospects because they ended up selling for a boat load of coin.

I expect the same here. It's money, baby.
