Bathurst has landed a franchise of the Eastern Canadian Basketball League. The Bathurst Bears are scheduled to hit the court in March 2022.

Bit of a surprise, all the teams are league owned, 5 teams so far. Saint John, Truro, Annapolis Valley and Summerside. There would be at least 400 players that put their names in for selection. It will be interesting to go see.

DQ websites show Bathurst as coming soon, in the old KFC building. Its a return after many years away!

I foresee the drive-thru lineup to be excessively long once that opens!

I think DQ had a good couple years. I drive past the one on Rothesay Avenue in Saint John 3-4 times a week, and since March 2020 the drive through has been backed up to Timmy's levels at peak times. I wonder what's driving the uptick? Other fast food places haven't been like this.

Pandemic based ice cream addiction maybe?
Back when portions of the public weren't so numb to the pandemic and not as afraid (for the most part).
Ice cream is usually most peoples stress food. I know early on in the pandemic you would see 10 cars lined up onto Rothesay ave waiting to get into the DQ site for the drive-thru. Though this summer there's not been as many backed up.

Here in Freddy, DQ was closed for the early Pandemic, reopening in 2021 with Drive Thru only. And when they did that, they were seeing Tims lines at both locations (to the point they rejigged the traffic flows at both locations to keep as much off the street and from blocking Best Buy traffic as they could).

Since then they've reopened the dining room, closed them again briefly and reopened them, and the lineups don't seem as bad any more. But they are still steady-busy. I think it's partly because it's the only place in town to get ice cream in the winter (aside from in the Mall or Happy Baker, both locations having more limited hours now), and people wanting a quick cool treat in the summer.

Bathurst is also getting a new development next to the future Nissan dealership. Plan for several rental units and strip mall has been submitted to council and rezoning process.

Bathurst should see 3 large developments start up this summer, Vallée Lourde development housing, st-peters commercial and residential and the pabineau gas station/commercial strip on Vanier.

Ardene is making a comeback at the mall, taking the last large available retail unit in the city. More will be needed for further growth.

Beresford has a zoning request for 100 or so residential units accross the Beresford mall and should see further development along Acadie street.

Renderings of the New Brunswick Aviation Museum to be built in in Miramichi, unveiled this evening in a gala event at the Hotel Beauséjour in Moncton.

Quote:
The New Brunswick Aviation Museum is a symbol of the historic milestones achieved by the Royal Canadian Air Force. To celebrate this, we incorporated the most recognizable element of an airplane to mark the entrance : its wing. Furthermore, the large roof overhangs give the illusion that it's floating. The underside of the canopy is clad with wood to provide warmth and shelter contrasting with the remainder of the cladding that is mostly metal, recalling material used in the early planes and hangar bases.

We incorporated a reinterpretation of the CFB Chatham tower as a sculptural piece, paying homage to the vertical element that guided the planes and that is now guiding the visitor towards the museum entrance.

To achieve the same objectives as an architecturally iconic museum with versatile art exhibition spaces, we located the main exhibition hall in the core of the building surrounded by the supporting programs.

The project provides interior venues for an array of public events, located throughout the building with various heights and layouts, that encourages an experience beyond that of the exhibition itself
All from the Spitfire Designs Facebook page.

Tenders were out yesterday for work at Petit-Rocher wharf for redevelopment of the wharf for recreational use, floating docks and so on.

Will be a nice addition to the wharf!

First foundation is poured across the mall in Beresford, too big to be for the typical residential build in the area, more than likely a commercial buildings and rumours are that it will be a Dollarama but nothing confirmed yet.

On the DQ in Bathurst. Speaking to a worker . Some delays have been caused by problem's in acquiring HVAC equipment. Shipping delays are effecting most everyone these days. They are working on other parts but they can not finish the interior until duct work is done.
