Bel Air is a city northeast of Baltimore and is the county seat of Harford County. Bel Air was originally called "Scott's Old Fields", after a local who had inherited the land and mapped out a town there. The name was changed to Belle Aire in 1784, and over the next 15 years the town became Bell Aire, and finally Bel Air. Bel Air's population is around 10,000.
Bel Air's most notorious resident was John Wilkes Booth, who was born here in 1838. The entire Booth family, regarded as some of the best actors on the 1800's, came from Bel Air.
