The lot I was referencing being drilled on was the one right next to Bulldogs, I don't think Hanover includes it. Also saw people working on Peachtree and Third this morning, no heavy equipment yet though

I keep forgetting the project does not include the northwest fifth of the existing parking lot.

bryant is exactly right...there is too much historic significance in the Morris Brown area to just callously bulldoze it. I can't see that EVER happening to a historic HBCU in Atlanta. EVER.

There are some photos of some of the historic buildings in that area at the beginning of this photo thread. You may have been to Herndon Stadium and are going by its current sad state, but it's certainly not beyond repair nor are the historic buildings around it. http://forum.skyscraperpage.com/showthread.php?t=223734

My god, what is with people and this "tear it down" mentality? I don't get it.

With the lack of open lots between 10th & 5th, it could really add some pressure to develop more around North Ave. Only thing missing in the area (other than more development) is better manicured public parks.
You could add 880 West Peachtree to that list...it seems to be on the verge of starting. I think CODA may not be that far off as well.

I thought Hanover owned that whole block, except perhaps that old small brick apartment building in the north-east corner?

I have to agree.

Seriously? Wanting to preserve something or supporting an area doesn.t mean that you have to want move there. That's ridiculous. It's also sad that this being an Atlanta forum, some of you have no knowledge and the history of where you live. The historical significance of that area and how it has shaped America is almost as huge as the history of the Auburn Ave. area. Some would argue that it is...just because some politicians decided to make an effort to preserve Auburn Ave., doesn't take away that the Vine City area was instrumental to shape America to have its first Black President. I would say more, but I will stay politically correct.

Amen!

Morris Brown does have some cool buildings, and I am sure the OP realizes that. People always look for an opportunity to take generalizations literally so they can cry racism. It makes them feel better about themselves.

Everyone needs to shut up with the racism accusations. Some of us come here for a BREAK from the politicized racial division that progressives push in every other corner of the internet.

Only the three properties Hanover is going on 881 Peachtree, 878 & 882 Juniper are registered to the same LLC Loudermilk/Rohrig, The others have LLCs based on the properties address so can't tell who owns them. And in the a city property map it still shows Rohrig LLC owning 811 Peachtree (from Cartel Properties) though it probably will take time for the changes to reflect in the CoA database.

In the business chronicle:

Carter USA President Scott Taylor said the first activity at the site will be construction of student housing on the western end of the property adjacent to the Downtown Connector. That work will be followed by a retail complex along Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard and Georgia Avenue, he said.

Do you know who owns the little strip mall property to the northwest of the block?

Is there a map of all the parcels included in the sale?

NINE ZERO THREE PEACHTREE SHOPPES LLC

You can look up properties online with the city's interactive map viewer (leveraging GIS): http://coaplangis.maps.arcgis.com/apps/I...l?appid=9fc4bb6d13e94c298d2867570d99af4b

Ralph David Abernathy Boulevard is only on the west side of 75 / 85, correct? That would imply they are also getting parcels over there. Interesting.

Though that one is just a shell company for Loudermilk. The address is at his Buckhead Village Aaron's Inc. Building.

I Believe RDA extends all the way east to Hank Aaron, which is where it coverts to Georgia.
