Also, no 523 North Broad. If he really wants to get that thing going by July, he's gonna have to get that into CDR by June.

Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia has expanded its presence in the Wanamaker Building and added another 54,000 square feet.

CHOP now occupies a total of 300,000 square feet in the building at 100 Penn Square East in Philadelphia and serves as its largest tenant. The hospital has been in Wanamaker since 2005. It started out with 192,000 square feet and added space over the years. In 2011, the hospital expanded and renewed its lease in the building. The new 54,000-square-foot lease will run coterminous with its other leases, said Scott MacGregor, vice president at Rubenstein Partners, which owns the building.

With the new deal, CHOP backfills a vacancy that had been created when Aramark Corp. relocated to 2400 Market St. in Philadelphia. The building’s office space is 95 percent occupied.

CHOP maintains administrative offices in Wanamaker and joins the University of Pennsylvania in using Center City office space to house a portion of those functions. They are both based in University City. Penn Medicine initially signed onto space in Centre Square in 2007. It has been growing its Center City presence ever since and now occupies 264,000 square feet.
/QUOTE]

I wonder if the plan for the new CHOP building is to move these CC offices back to UC when the new building is complete.

Is this new CHOP tower taller then anything else built in the hospital complex? It's slightly taller then the new Penn building.

What in the serious heck is that Liberty on the River proposal? Get out of here with that, developers! But that Fairmount/Girard college one was so gorgeous.

Yes! Those are the CHOP renderings I mentioned. It makes a lot more sense seeing site plans. Looks like it will go over the employee Buerger parking garage entrance, which makes sense. That was my biggest question of how it would fit. It looks great.

Also huge news for that giant lot in north fairmount on Poplar and Taney. That lot was holding the area back a lot and should help boost the development into brewerytown. I wasnt sure if it was being held as one lot or not

Thank god it wasn't, or you might not have been able to attend and have all the food in your body since third grade taken out of you.

It seems slightly more realistic than the original. But it still seems to me that 1,770 unit (plus additional senior living and hotel units) is not at all realistic for this location. Good luck filling it if it gets off the ground...

If you still aren't aware of the serious issue that all of the food that you ate since first grade is alive in your body, especially the dead animal remains or meat since it was cooked alive and is alive in your body, then I don't know what to tell you buddy.

You can either keep your head in the sand or you can get to work and help us build a steel furnace this weekend. You can't just sit around and expect other people mix your body with metal so that you can become steel and unable to be hurt. Do attend.

I read this before knowing anything about the 'event', so thank you for that....I can now imagine the surprise of people when this showed up in their mailbox.

Exciting for CHOP! Though any particular reason they're not building this one across on the river to be with the lone Roberts building?

On the other page someone posted a rendering that the Robert's building is the first phase in a series of 3 research centers. The other ones wont come for a couple more years, but they already have the space earmarked

If even one of those other two is even a little taller than Roberts, it'll look incredible. The dawn view of the city from the Vare entrance of the Schuylkill WB is simply amazing with Roberts in the foreground. I'm not as high on the Philly skyline as most - maybe just because I've traveled so much and seen so many of the world's top skylines - but that particular view is right up there with almost any of them.

Unfortunately, in the previous renderings, the tallest one has been built, and the other two proposed builidngs in the rendering are shorter. However, I don't believe it is set in stone and height will be determine by demand for the amount of space needed in either buildings.

The owners of Centre Square have launched an estimated $12 million renovation to the building’s plaza, retail and lobby areas in an effort to give the 45-year-old office complex a refresh amid losing one of its biggest tenants.

The 1.8-million-square-foot building at 15th and Chestnut streets in Center City has gone through various upgrades over the years including the reconstruction of the plaza area around the Claus Oldenburg “Clothespin” sculpture, improving mechanical systems, reconfiguring a staircase leading to the SEPTA concourse and cleaning the facade.

Nightingale Properties and Wafra Capital Partners, which own the two-building complex, are embarking upon is more visible and ambitious than past efforts. The round of work will cost an estimated $12 million, according to sources, though that figure couldn't be confirmed. It attempts to accomplish several goals: brighten up what has been a dark lobby, reinvigorate the retail space as well as establish a connection between the building and plaza to Market Street and Dilworth Plaza. BLT Architects designed the renovations.

The timing of the improvements come as Centre Square will see Willis Towers Watson, one of its biggest tenants, leave the building. Willis Towers Watson will vacate 260,000 square feet in April 2020. It is downsizing to 95,000 square feet to 1735 Market St. While losing one of its biggest tenants is never good, it will give Centre Square's landlord an opportunity to seize upon a market that doesn't have a lot of contiguous blocks of space available and rents that are on the rise.

[...]

The installation of stainless-steel perforated metal panels that will be lighted on a portion of the east and west towers will be among the most visible exterior alterations. In addition, a glass wall will be installed along the Market Street retail space and a new glass box will be constructed that will create a new Market Street entrance to that retail space.

About 19,000 square feet of retail space is being created from a former bank branch and will likely be divided into three separate spaces. The landlord is being selective when it comes to tenants and has passed on some retailers it perceived as not a good fit. A white tablecloth restaurant and other food establishments are being explored.

The plaza will also get new lighting and landscaping and, but for the Clothes Pin sculpture, will have an unobstructed view of Dilworth Plaza.

Worth noting that 260,000 square feet is about what Morgan Lewis, Dechert, and Blank Rome are looking for.

Picture 4 does a better job of showing the facade embellishments than past renders/articles. The purists won't like it, but I personally would like to see the cement on these buildings painted white like they did with 1919 Market. I think it would really freshen the buildings up.

EDIT: not 1919; the building across the street from it that has the ground floor wawa and the WeWork.

They are taking core samples near the curb on chestnut near the soon to be demoed East Market building. In addition, at least 10 large planters have been installed along the entire south side of the 1000 block of chestnut in front of the Brickstone developments. Looks much better.
