Completely agree! My hope is that S Carrolton and Washington Ave become grand entrances to Xavier.

I think that’s the plan since those areas are located within the BioDistrict borders. I expect some major developments to be unveiled when the BioDistrict releases its master plan in a couple of months.

Do we know what's going at 1010 Girod? Is that where Starbucks was pre-COVID?

I wish downtown had a larger presence of fast-casual chains, even local ones. Panera Bread, Chipotle, CC's Coffee, etc

Regarding the Xavier Med School and Ochsner partnership: I really hope they can leverage these investments to improve connectivity and walkability in the surrounding area. The Carrollton/Expressway area is atrocious especially given the amount of transit that passes through there.

What I'd really love is to see this become an impetus for commuter rail with stops at UPT, Carrollton, Ochsner, Zephyr Field, and MSY. Would be great to spark more development around Xavier and those massive lots near the tracks on Ochsner's campus. That rail corridor right-of-way is a great opportunity for the region if we can get more development near it.

Stumbled upon these renderings of the Clearview Mall renovation. Looks to be from this year (potentially May/June)? Looks great, we shall see what the final product ends up being... https://greenleafarch.com/clearview-city-center

Explains why Target barely touched the exterior when they did that massive renovation. I was expecting they'd be the first to renovate in a new style outside, like how Elmwood's been slowly re-skinning more or less, but now I can see why they didn't do that. Given the timeline, I have to believe these are basically final renderings but it's almost too good to be true!

Dont know about the main portion of the mall, but it seems like this is their final design. Must be fairly recent too since Bed Bath and Beyond is not included anymore as a tenant.

I could see Zea sticking around but in a new space though. There's a handful of tenant spaces that look big enough to fit them at about the size they are now.

City of the Dead Attraction

Now we know what that building on Basin Street will finally become. I was hoping for a bed and breakfast or retail, but better this development than nothing.
