It's amazing that a couple years back...those blocks were vast empty parking lots. I give the Chetah until 2020 and then it's gone.

In no way is the second phase of the NCR HQ a skyline changer for Midtown, but just think about the street presence along that whole stretch. That's a big, dense city type development and I think it'll do wonders for Midtown along the connector.

True, but so was Backstreet. The owners will likely get an offer they cannot refuse. Maybe MARTA will just build a few towers on top...now that could be some interesting architecture

Yep, it's nothing mindblowing, but it is great street presence and situates a Fortune 500 directly next to a top school it wants to recruit from and likely without breaking the bank. It's great for business in midtown and Atlanta.

No question. Midtown is absolutely smoking.

Thats quite the stretch literally trying to compare Cheetah to Backstreet.

Haha. Although, I keep hoping that Anne Cox Chambers will one day make a HUGE donation to the Woodruff Arts Center that would cover a new symphony hall, much like Bernie Marcus did with the aquarium. She's already been a major benefactor, so I could see it happening.

NCR Second Phase

“…NCR and its developer, Cousins Properties, were considering a second tower in Midtown…”(AJC)

I wouldn't exactly call it a second "tower", but it does complement the first building in its proportions.
I would be curious to know what height/width formula actually constitutes a “tower”, since that word gets use so often – not sure if there is one though.

The formula has been debated before though - before my time.

That is clearly a tower, I'm not sure why anyone would dispute that. It's taller than it is wide and it juts up from a much lower base.

Just comparing establishments that Fortune 500 headquarters or condo residents would not exactly love to live next door to. Although Chetah is much less crazy than the traffic, crowd and street activity that Backstreet used to generate. Just making a point (not my opinion or preference) that if history repeats, Chetah may not be there in the long run....the $ will win out.

That's quite a nice set-aside for retail in NCR's Phase 2!! Anyone else notice that? Doesn't say how much square footage, but it's a decent footprint with retail parking behind. Wonder what they have in mind for the type of tenant. This is great stuff for central Midtown. By 2020, things are going to be beyond JUMPIN' for the stretch from Ponce all the way to 17th, though it'll taper off some that far north..still a lot of development underway and soon to come between 14th & 17th. The face of Midtown is ever changing, for the better.

FYI, per the Midtown DRC agenda phase II will have 9,662 sq. ft. of retail.

Those NCR renderings are spectacular. The second tower complements the first one quite nicely. That's quite a campus they'll have there once it's finished.
