LOL, no sorry EastSide, it would be NICE if the BassPro shop closed down. What I meant was that BassPro Shop is like a giant stamp, "White Trash HERE!". LOL. But I agree, it takes FOREVER for decent retail to move in. I mean, is there really a reason why it took until late 2003 for Starbucks to open ONE store in the region (ok, they've grown a lot since then, but... c'mon).

Funny how getting a Starbucks is a stamp that an area has finally made it. Nobody seems to dislike that chain.

But I will say that BPS is a pretty nice store, and I'd rather have people drawn to HBG and give it the business vs. some other places (especially outside of the state). Also, let's take this one step further and say that the location of the store forces cultures that would normally have nothing to do with each other together...hey, who knew HBG and BPS would be a model for gentrification!

OK this just pisses me off. Why don't they just come out and say they want to be in the "cool" neighborhoods. They say that they the 6th and Reily spot is blocks away from schools. the current spot is too!! There is a Catholic school of the 500 Block of 2nd.

They change their arguements for why sites aren't valid everytime someone points out they are wrong, and claim to be forth coming with information. I don't know who they were talking to, but the GSA hasn't told anyone shit this whole time. wtf??

U.S. wants shops near court

Could the location of a new $130 million federal courthouse in Harrisburg boil down to whether there’s a nail salon nearby?

Federal officials told local and federal lawmakers that a nail

salon, an affordable restaurant, a card shop, a dry cleaner and lodging were some of the amenities needed around a courthouse site, according to several participants on a conference call last summer.

Barbara Shelton, regional director of the U.S. General Services Administration, who mentioned the nail salon during the call, said the comment was taken out of context.

Speaking of Starbucks, Harrisburg's first "real" Starbucks opened up last week on Market Street. They rehabbed the first floor of a vacant building on Market street at 3rd. It's beautiful and spacious inside (the biggest in the area), worth checking out if you are downtown.

Their rent has been increased and he can't afford to stay there. Rumor has it he might open elsewhere in the city. I heard rumors of what was supposed to open in its spot, but Its slipped my mind.

LMAO - That is amazing, hahahaha. Though seriously, the new Barnes & Noble will probably be pretty nice - I think it's going to be 2 floors. I also love the Starbucks on Paxton St., the staff is SOOO nice. It's so disappointing dealing with baristas in NY...

Just dropping by to see what's new. I can't believe the Spot shut down. I was there back in July I think...man am I gonna miss it. What's new with you Dave?
