It's a pretty busy parkade... I parked there for years in the Before Times, and it's full of monthly parkers plus all the people attending RBCCC functions along with MTS Centre events. It's also one of the better parkades downtown given that it's way less cramped than most other parkades and it gives you enough room to open doors comfortably.

hahaha no I was on May 26 and did not get wedged. It must have been Biff and his enormous blue Chevy.

RBCCC is Jets game parking central. Plus all the monthly parkers and whatever else.

There's also the new parkade under the expansion. I've been in there only once. I don't believe it's open during events for some reason.

^^^More conservative. I'm not a "Bro".

Different enough from stock but not obnoxious.

Like this but a different colour.

There are 4 parking lots between Earls and Century Plaza. Earls owns the lot the restaurant is on, and the two parking lots north of it. The third lot from Earls is a separate private lot, manager by Indigo. The northernmost lot beside CP is that building’s parking.

Earls is still trying to decide if they’re going to sell the lane or find a developer to partner with and hold the land as an asset. My understanding is they’re going to try and lease out the building for now until they have a plan, unless some sort of plan gets figured out sooner than expected.

The Earls lane shouldn’t be affected but I know there has been discussion in the past on if the St. Mary right of way may need to continue east for an eventual RT connection as Graham for transit is likely not long for this world. That would affect the private indigo lot if it happens. However it’s less likely now based on the new transit plan.

Also on the 300 Main parking – I could see them following in TNS’ footsteps and doing dynamic pricing based on availability.

The exterior of the washrooms at Union Station in the rotunda are being renovated back to a heritage look. They were just done maybe 5 years ago, anyone know if maybe Heritage Winnipeg pushed them or why they’d do it now when there’s no money coming in haha? Not complaining, looks good - I’m just surprised.

EDIT: ok it looks like it’s temporary for a movie haha. Carry on.

I play tourist on a visit to Wpg a few weeks ago and walked into the washrooms as well. Perhaps they were redone as hands free for sinks and toilets in line with Covid and what one sees at airports?

There is incredible red / purple marble one would expect to see reserved for a Roman Emperor on walls and floor. An incredible building..

Finally. I'm glad to see some progress on this:

In the post it says that construction is underway on installing the geothermal system. It further says that the Province of Manitoba and the City of Winnipeg are also supporting the first phase of Railside with TIF.

I believe Mere Hotel has a geothermal component to it as well. Not certain if the heating / cooling wall packs in the rooms are tied into the system or not. Very much enjoy staying there when in the City.

"Construction crews broke ground on the geothermal system in early May. Next spring, work is scheduled to begin on two public plazas, pedestrian streets and alleys and Israel Asper Way will be repurposed into a parkway."

Winnipeg Free Press article on the new ceo for the Forks, Sara Stasiuk:

https://www.winnipegfreepress.com/bu...jeLSZzpfFTRf04

In the article she discusses Railside and Portage Place. She describes Railside as being one meter away from the beginning, and says she expects it will be taking up a lot of her time in the coming months. She further predicts that by early summer we might see development underway.

Fingers crossed on this one, I was worried that Portage Place may have killed or seriously taken the wind out of the sails of Railside.

Odd development RFP out for "Parcel B" at The Forks. They are asking for Commercial ground floor, then possible residential, office etc on what could be the smallest most obscure piece of property on the site. 2,500 sq ft area tucked in between the MTYP and the parking garage. There are acres of open surface lot and other areas and they chose to develop a spot that has room for a tree and a bench. Strange.

I love the idea of filling that space in. It would hide the parkade a bit and help animate that stretch of sidewalk. I wonder if they received some interest in it, hence the RFP?

I am all for it too, I just find it a bit odd.

Again, as always my hope is for something like this.

I’ve heard there was an unsolicited proposal for that spot. Maybe they felt like they needed a general RFP to fairly give it to someone.
