I'm not remotely "worried" about any of the projects, tbh, but if there's gonna be some that fall through it'll be the three I mentioned plus maybe Homewood.

The only reason I worry about Magellan is b/c they're a huge firm that don't really need this project and they haven't been very vocal about it's progress.

Shoal Creek Walk is completely SPEC at this time...so I worry most about this one.

WCCG has already made a comment about delivering its 99 Trinity units at the beginning of the "next cycle" (late 2017/early 2018). This make since when one considers the number of units which are planned to be delivered between now and early/mid 2017.

I'm not sure what's up with Magellan. One thing that makes me worry about this project is that it has been reported that they plan a summer 2015 start...well, it's almost May 2015 and we still don't know what hotel will manage the lodging component of this building. Also, not many large upper-end/luxury hotels will be included in a tower with rental units (at least outside of megalopolis' like New York or Chicago). Hotel ZaZa may be the exception here in Austin. But, that tower's development seems to have hit a bump. There is a chance that those units may switch over to for sale condos rather than rental units. We shall see.

Furthermore, we have not heard about a hotel operator for the Waller project. That is something else to consider...watch.

KXAN News
The University of Texas is planning to add housing, parking and tennis courts in East Austin. The new additions include housing for more than 700 graduate students, a new tennis center with 12 courts, and an East Campus Parking Garage that would add 2,000 spaces.

The plan will go to the UT System Board of Reagents for approval in the coming month. The cost of the plan is expected to reach up to $166 million.

It's just not safe to bike or walk across there on a regular basis.

That said, this is a very interesting plan. I like it. To me, this (in particular, the part where they show a willingness to redevelop surface parking lots) greatly strengthens the idea that the new basketball arena will be right across the highway on what is now the parking lot just south of Mike Myers Soccer Field.

A realigned Red River that went along Robert Dedman Dr/Medical Arts St would open up that nice chunk of land south of the Mike Myers Soccer Field. Honestly, I just hope UT builds something on its current campus.

I would hope that they would allocate some of that money to either widen the sidewalks on the existing overpass or build a new pedestrian bridge next to it. That's a very good point. Its almost single file, hug the rail tiny.

I always parked at Disch-Falk and either rode the bus or walked to class. Not that big of a deal unless it was raining.

I agree that it could be better for people on bikes (i.e. get rid of the on-street parking and create buffered bike lanes), but this is one of the most heavily biked areas in Austin from my experience. It's really not that bad.

Students use this every day, heck even I use it when I want to cut through UT because I'm late for work. Traffic moves pretty slow through there in part because of all the bikes.

A lot of students already live across I-35. Dean Keeton is a major thoroughfare for bicyclists and bus riders to get east-west. It's a bit too far for most to walk so biking/bus is the way to go

Never heard of it, but looks like it will have some great views of the cemetery.

Thanks!

I've added both of the above to my development map.

Right, the western half of the old Balcones recycling plant. City Council recently rezoned this portion of the property CS-V from LI. Not sure what to make of the odd duck-in-space on the far left (van accessible space?) but it's heartening to see that they have a pedestrian path along the far left. This is the space between their building and the Cap Metro Red Line and will hopefully be a bike/ped shortcut to Hidalgo.

According to Austin Towers (subsidiary of Downtown Austin Blog), one of the remaining two parcels of the lot bounded by Nueces, San Antonio, 5th and 6th has had a site plan filed for a mixed-use project. This project is heavily encumbered by a CVC that I'm not sure is possible to work around, so don't expect anything amazing:

http://austintowers.net/downtown-austin-question-marks/
https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer...s.kFyc1SOGTRGA

Currently, we have the IBC tower on the south half of the block and IBC controls the northwest corner and wants to build a 28-story hotel. Provided that both the hotel and this mixed-use come to fruition, that leaves just a small sliver of undeveloped land on this block in the middle of the north half.

Nice find. How exactly do the CVCs run through this site? 5th and West got creative in working around them and it produced a nice slant incorporated into the design. The footprint of that lot is 20,000SF, so could we be looking at a building potentially in the 25-floor range if it's mixed use? Obviously, an office component would escalate the height of this project
