^Yeah I believe what was built was stripped down quite a bit from the original proposal. Was supposed to be more of a village / outdoor mall expansion? There is still opportunity to develop the parking lots along 152 St though.

Yeah Guildford is surrounded by oodles of parking that could be massively densified, and more than likely will eventually be. It could fit 10 towers around it at least. The property is huge and the Sears store will close sooner or later so there's another spot for a tower.

There's also potential to build new movie theatres into an expansion of the mall which could free up that connected land the older theatres are on. They were getting older and had basement flooding issues when I lived in the area over ten years ago. I dunno what their current condition is but it's time for a rebuild of the tacky big box standalone theatres IMO.

I believe they have started work on the North Surrey Arena by Scott road station. I can't find any threads on it which is odd. I saw it from the Skytrain and looking at the large set of pillars standing up there it looks similar to the idea they have for the Arena.

Yes, besides the comfy chairs, they've redone the concessions area too. Less tacky compared to the old style. Has a simpler look now.

Yeah have to say the reno they did there makes it so much better. I use to travel out to Langley to see movies now I actually prefer going to Guildford with the new comfy seats.

Agreed. Those new chairs are the reason to go out now. Comfy, spacious, and you can even cuddle if that's your thing!

I felt the entrance had more character before. The seats are amazing though. They are actually longer then the reclining seats at cineplex.

Not sure where to post this but here is a rough mark-up of the King George station area by 2020/2021. The 6 new towers shown are all expected to be under construction by next year.

You forgot the 50-storey Education Centre tower? Or is that further to the north?

Surrey Central is not visible in this pic. It's in the opposite direction.

Will have to do another mark-up showing from Gateway to King George.

Yeah this is just the 2018-2021 wave.

2020-2025 will see 9 more towers added to this view:

Holland Gardens (3 towers)
Hub Phase C-D (3 towers)
100 Ave east of Park Avenue (2 towers)
King George south of Hampton (1 tower)

All currently under application

What type of building is King George South of Hampton? Haven't heard of this proposal before.

I think the 12 storey Innvoation bldg isn't meant to be behind Hampton, it's the 3rd of the Medical bldgs being built right now and it's supposed to be on the other side of King George Blvd. I guess even Shift makes mistakes every now and then.

The 12-storey Innovation Village project is in the correct place. It's being developed by WestStone Group. There is even a thread for it. Site clearing is underway now.

You're thinking of the 3rd City Centre Professional building proposed by Lark Group.

Application has been submitted for a new '1000 unit' development on the site highlighted below. Currently a grass field as you're coming up the hill on King George.

Architect is MCM

I've seen early plans and they are proposing 3 towers, each above a 6-storey podium along King George Blvd south of Barker St and 2 additional 6-storey buildings north of Barker St. Barker St will connect through to Bolivar as part of the project cutting the site in half.
