Pretty much. Based on this plan, only the site labeled #5 might qualify as a tower.

Atlantic Station missed out on the Midtown's construction boom the city experienced about 7-8 years ago. But, maybe it'll fill in those empty holes and vacant surface lots this time around.

Now that T3 is under construction, I'm hoping that the AMLI apartments, the Embassy Suites, and the Atlantic Yards proposals all see the light of day in 2018/2019.

It's time for Atlantic Station to experience another construction boom similar to what is proposed for West Midtown and the Upper Westside areas of the city.

Maybe they'll be 4+ cranes on the Atlantic Station skyline in the very near future... One can hope.

Whatever can help give AS more character and originality needs to happen.

Bowlero coming to Atlantic Station

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...source=twitter
Quote:
Bowlero will occupy almost 36,000 square feet at the Midtown project, next to the Regal Theatre. It is taking over the former Fox Sports Grill, The Diner and Kinnucan’s spaces.

Bowlero will have 30 lanes of bowling, digital gaming area and a full gastro-pub menu, according to an announcement.

It’s expected to open in mid-2019.

Perfecto!

The bowling alley helps create a cluster of entertainment along the main "drag" of AS. Now, just tear down the old, vacant restaurant fronting AMC already...

Agreed, this is a nice entertainment addition for AS. The more options we have in more neighborhoods, the better experiences for us that live in Atlanta.

I'm excited about seeing Atlantic Station offer more. ...I really wish the movie theater had a more quality look from the outside. It looks suburban highway cheap to me! The bowling alley does help.

I think these new developments are a step in the right direction to further blend AS into the natural framework of the city and I love T3 and Atlantic Yards. Ultimately, I think I'd love to see there be at least a pedestrian bridge or tunnel over the tracks from Bishop St to AS, especially as Bishop continues to develop. Wouldn't mind that Target parking lot to be developed too (the uncovered lot, of course).

Most of all, I'd love to see all of the EIFS replaced with better, more sustainable and better looking cladding. We've already seen plenty of problems with it in the retail district and the apartments aren't exactly aging well.

Agree wholeheartedly on replacing EIFS. Would be nice if getting rid of it throughout the City became a trend. Looks so cheap and ages poorly. It's not uncommon for multi-family rental owners to recapitalize at the 15-20 year mark and refresh properties. Not sure there's a huge incentive to do expensive exteriors in AS though, since even after a refresh these probably won't be seen as B+ or better.

ScreenX opens at Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station

https://whatnowatlanta.com/screenx-o...antic-station/

Quote:
ScreenX is a revolutionary, multi-projection theatre experience that extends the screen to the auditorium walls. This immersive format takes traditional movie-going a step further, by surrounding the audience with a 270-degree panoramic visual during select scenes and putting them in the center of the action. Fly to the farthest reaches of space or explore the depths of the ocean with this incredible technology, and experience the thrill of the movies like never before. Regal Cinemas Atlantic Station 18 IMAX & RPX is one of only eight movie theaters in the country with this technology!

Future development

Regarding AS development plans, this is a Facebook post by Atlantic Station from a week ago.

Quote:
Regal should have all of their improvements done by early spring 2019. The park renovation will begin next month, Atlantic Yards will be starting construction very soon, and AMLI should start in early 2019.

Atlanta hotel developer buys long-vacant hole in Atlantic Station

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...t-hole-in.html
Quote:
An affiliate of Atlanta-based Peachtree Hotel Group paid $3.75 million for the nearly one-acre site at 17th Street and Atlantic Drive, according to Fulton County property records. The deal closed Oct. 1.

The site is a gap along Atlantic Station’s parking deck, sandwiched between the Twelve Midtown hotel and the BB&T Tower.

Renderings of the Central Park transformation

https://www.bizjournals.com/atlanta/...come-best.html

Quote:
Atlantic Station today is kicking off a major transformation of its central park that will double the size of the gathering space, add a signature fountain, and bring new restaurants and shops.

The park project is set to open in fall 2019.

The greenspace will become oval-shaped, featuring a curved canopy and a signature water fountain. A large LED television screen will be installed to broadcast live events and social media alerts.

HOBNOB Southern Tavern will anchor the north end of the park, featuring an airy design and an upper-level patio.

The south end of the park will feature 6,000 square feet of shops and restaurants in three jewel box buildings.
