Wink

From the project twitter Oct 11 (this pic may be older than the one above (?):

Bridge tower construction is progressing at pier S1!
Crews are building up the tower in 5-metre increments. 7 of 33 “segment jumps”/5 metre sections of the tower have been completed.

Happy to see it going up but really bittersweet considering the removed additions of a revamped interchange on the Surrey side and additional improvements on Hwy 17.

Kicking the can down the road sucks. The SFPR has only seen upgrades that removed one of the biggest intersection chokepoints in Delta but it took what? 8 years? Likewise, we will have to contend with unnecessary intersections and chokepoints at both ends of the bridge.

Also that lane configuration and merge points on the New West side leading into Surrey are going to see many collisions. I think we may eventually see ramp metering lights installed there once this becomes apparent.

I wonder if this bridge will have a lighting feature or if it will just disappear into the night like the port Mann

Would be nice if that were to happen. Although with our trend of value engineering any and all infrastructure projects it's not going to happen. Even if it was proposed in the early stages that's an easy CAPEX/OPEX line item to nix for some quick savings.

It would be great if they'd put some blue and orange light feature on it as a callback to the original Pattullo's colours, faded though they may be now.

Those N1 Pier pilings looked impressive in this shot.
N1 must be doing the work of S2 and S3 (and S4?) given the assymmetry of the piers.

I think so - you can see 2 sets of them (SkyTrain is the purple line).
