I think WestAustinite was talking about the vacant lot right next to the Nokonah by Lamar.

As parking garages go, that's not bad. Not bad at all.

So he just had it backwards - it would be south of the Nokonah and north of REI and Book People.

Skyline with Gables Park Plaza II at left, and cranes for 3 Eleven Bowie (center left).

Crane base is set at "The Catherine" - formerly Streetlights at Barton Springs. They should be getting the crane up this weekend.

Hyatt Regency ballroom and parking garage.

Yeah! ...Seaholm commencing immediately.

AND... 30 story apartment tower announced - to be delivered by mid 2015 - that would mean starting this year.

one tenant will take up most of the power plant the way I read it. The low rise will be trader joes plus other retail and biz... at least they have the anchor tenants to go.

Pretty much. I would say Austin traffic has gotten considerably light in that rendering...

"The Catherine" what a horrible name.

Gables, Seaholm, 3eleven, and the library will all be under construction in that area soon. All that's left is GreenWater! (And the energy control buildings, but we're not counting those yet.) Here's to hoping we hear some good news about that soon!

That will be a pretty loud neighborhood for the next few years, with all of that construction going on. But it sure is going to be fun to watch. That area of downtown is finally coming together. 2013 is turning out to be a great year for Austin after all. These projects will have a big effect on the skyline. The library will be short, the Seaholm tower will be medium-sized, and then 3eleven will be tall. So, it will be graduated. I think it will look amazing. I wish someone would create a 3D model of all these buildings.

You can include Block 51 in that general area as well. Whole Foods and 7 Rio too.

The ABJ really got the scoop on the Seaholm groundbreaking. I didn't even see any mention of it on the 10:00 PM news.

Such amazing news. Finally, the Seaholm district is taking shape. It will truly be downtown's best hood.

From this week's edition of the Austin Business Journal...

Proposed office tower near Whole Foods back on track

Schlosser Development Corp.’s office tower at 836 W. Sixth St. is back on track after being derailed twice in the last decade.
Plans would put 430,400 square feet of office space, 44,613 square feet of retail and 1,421 underground parking spaces on the lot to the east of Whole Foods Market Inc.’s headquarters. The building is one of the few office projects taking shape in the midst of several hotel and residential projects underway downtown...

I really hope this project turns out better than I am thinking. A project of this size and complexity...and only valued at approximately "$100MM" scares me a bit. I have a difficult time thinking the project will end up looking anything similar to the renderings SWSG is trying to pawn on the public. I hope I am wrong!

On another note, I am very happy to see the tower's height being increased to 30 stories. Based on the renderings (architectural features in the renderings), I would guess the total height to be in the neighborhood of 350' to 380'. Nice!

Wow it looks awesome! That part of town is so dry, this will be a great step towards changing that. If only we could get those ugly parking garages in the government Capital Complex torn up and filled with developments like this..
