Ochsner – Clearview ‘super clinic’ plans February opening

More activity is scheduled for 2023 and beyond.

Over the next 12 to 18 months, developers expect to begin demolition of the old mall area and start pre-leasing for the site as it is rebuilt, said John Snow, a Clearview City Center spokesman.

He said developers are in “active discussions with a number of prospective new tenants and well-known concepts to join our existing tenant base, along with a hotel developer looking to bring a limited service concept to Clearview City Center.”

Sara Mayo Hospital

The former Sara Mayo hospital located at 609 Jackson Avenue appears to be moving forward with a renovation after sitting abandoned for decades. The project will consist of constructing a new nine story tower on the current parking lot and converting the former hospital building into residential units with retail on bottom floor.

I walked pass the McDonald’s on Canal St. (French Quarter side) moments ago. A ‘This location is closed’ sign is on the door. All the equipment, cups, napkins, etc. is piled inside the front entrance. What’s going on?

Merry Christmas, New Orleans fans.

Now living in the north, I miss New Orleans Christmases.
Jingle jangle jingle, here comes Mr. Bingle, with a message from Kris Kringle.

Maison Blanche windows on Canal Street made Mr. Bingle famous. Some of us are old enough to remember how nice this was.

What's next for Harrah's transformation to a Caesars?

https://www.nola.com/news/business/h...a6ef6cbb1.html

A two-year-old project to expand and rebrand Harrah’s New Orleans at the foot of Canal Street into a Caesars casino-hotel complex enters a new and more visible phase in early January, when renovations begin to the exterior of the building and to nearly one-fourth of the gaming hall space inside.

The latest phase of the project, slated to be complete in April, will involve overhauling the South Peters Street entrance of the building and painting it white, in keeping with the look of a Caesars casino property.

Exterior changes also will entail adding windows overlooking Poydras Street from a new, soon-to-be-completed food hall that will feature three restaurants branded by celebrity chefs.

Interior renovations will include renovating about 20,000 square feet of gaming space, and replacing the heavy framing and dark carpet with a lighter, airier, and more contemporary décor, casino officials said.

The latest installment of the project is part of a more than $325 million expansion and modernization of the casino that includes construction of a new 340-room, casino-adjacent hotel. Subsequent phases of the renovation and the hotel are scheduled to be completed by late summer 2024.

Local Harrah's officials said the changes are needed to keep the property competitive as new forms of online gambling become more commonplace nationwide.

“For us to continue to grow, we have to stay relevant and fresh and new,” Smith said. “This facility opened in 1999. While I don’t want to refer to it as old, with the expansion of gaming, if we want to continue to attract high rollers we need to be able to offer first-class amenities.”.....

The Pelicans' Smoothie King Center lease expires in 2024. Here's what they have plann

https://www.nola.com/sports/pelicans...aa922e66c.html

The Smoothie King Center turned 23 years old in October. There are no signs that the Pelicans will vacate it for a new arena any time soon.

The Pelicans’ lease at the Smoothie King Center expires on June 30, 2024. With roughly 18 months remaining on the deal, every indication from team and state representatives is that the Pelicans will exercise their option on an extension to remain at their downtown arena for most, if not all, of the 2020s.

“Their intention is to extend the lease,” said Doug Thornton, the vice president of stadiums for ASM Global, which oversees lease negotiations with the Pelicans for the state's Louisiana Stadium and Exposition District (LSED). “We’re going to determine what capital improvements need to be made. We’re always putting money into the arena. The question is how much?”

In February, Pelicans president Dennis Lauscha said the Pelicans can extend their lease at Smoothie King Center for up to five years, which would give the team time to figure out a “long-term plan.”

The New Orleans Saints and the state are already sharing the cost of a $450 million renovation of the Caesar’s Superdome, which is expected to be completed in 2025. Gayle Benson, the owner of the Saints and Pelicans, said at the NFL annual meeting in March that she wants the renovation of the Saints' stadium to be finished before she shifts her attention toward the Pelicans’ arena situation.....

These look to be the 955 Howard renderings/floor plans from the architect's website. Not the most descriptive of renderings, so it's a bit hard to judge what the exterior will look like. Floor plans look well thought out.

LCMC Health, Tulane University Finalize Partnership

The integration of the Tulane facilities with LCMC Health will take place over the next two years. Over time, Tulane Medical Center will shift the majority of its services to East Jefferson General Hospital and University Medical Center New Orleans. Tulane has plans to redevelop the Medical Center building as part of its investment in downtown New Orleans.

“This partnership is part of Tulane University’s transformative commitment of $1 billion to Louisiana’s economy,” said a spokesperson. “This commitment will emphasize commercialization of research and entrepreneurship and include reimaging of the Charity Hospital and Tulane Medical Center buildings. Together these facilities will house a new nursing program, clinical research programs, educational space for students, an exponential increase in space dedicated to research, as well as graduate programs in public health, social work, and medicine. All told, these efforts will create an estimated 2,300 jobs in New Orleans and across Louisiana.”
