Actually, it's slowly getting better, I don't mind it nearly so much now as I used to. There are more, taller, buildings now. But... the table top is also getting stronger as more 200 metre towers are built. Most people are dismissing this for some reason, but I am not.

Also; Read my comment again, since I said NOTHING about how good or bad the skyline is, only how flat it is...

OK my rant is over, let's get back to skylines.

Some of us don't focus on "flat top"-ishness.

I love Montreal's skyline because of its variation in building styles and its layers. I appreciate Toronto's too, and that of many other places.

To each their own. And I think any opinion is worthy of mention.

Thank you ! That guy or that thing is just a troll ….he thinks height is what determines a skylines beauty … clown.

Anyway, I thought it was a nice picture and the east view of the skyline looks good with the new construction even if the tallest buildings are a similar height. particularly with the architecture and colours which are enhanced by that light conditions. Than again, I'm not in much position to throw stones for having a table top.

At 200 metres, a table top of a half dozen towers is a desire for more height. Future heighters, hopefully, one day will be talking about table tops created by space elevators.

I doubt this very much. I would be shocked to see any of the class A office buildings be converted.

CIBC tower has multiple prestige tenants and it's square-ish floor plan doesn't lend itself to residential as well as a more rectangular building. The city has dozens upon dozens of 10-20 floor rectangular class C office buildings that have to come off the market before anything Class A is even up for consideration.

ERA Architects Inc.

This week’s theme showcases ERA’s work in the educational sector across Canada. Happy back to school season!

First up takes us to Edmonton and the University of Alberta.

ERA Architects and GEC Architecture collaborated to redevelop the historic Dentistry Pharmacy Building (now known as University Commons) designed by the distinguished Percy Nobbs. The project brought new teaching, academic, and administrative spaces to campus while preserving the 1922 building’s cherished historic features.

Seems like an appropriate time for a few Victoria shots since we’re expressing love for layers and table tops, lol.

Interestingly I stumbled across this pic on a real estate site, and then another on Flickr on the same day showing the mid-century classic ferry from Port Angeles coming in to the inner harbour in Victoria:

Another realtor site photo also showing the ferry coming in from the outer harbour into the inner harbour downtown through the narrow entrance:

Views from James Bay:

When viewed from the inner harbour entrance the city look small, but there is a whole lot of density hidden in behind - hopefully one day we’ll see a third layer of buildings in behind, but they’ll have to be 30 + storeys to have any impact, up to 40 depending on location. There are a couple approved 30+ but as part of a phase 2. As well there could be significant height right at the entrance on the Songhees side as part of the Bayview development.

Our table tops are those traditional Japanese tables where you have to sit on the floor.

agreed. Here she is, looking pretty, with the old, old CIBC logo. I love the proportions and the colouring.

Conversion would cost a fortune and you'd probably end up with a property of lesser value.

And Victoria isn't "landlocked"

As well, if there are a number of things to do... well, I'll leave that one alone.
