ahh fair enough sorry. I just typed in "true north square" on twitter and there was a few posts about how its going to be bigger that anticipated and one said 2 buildings might be 30% taller than expected. upon further inspection they actually held a press conference and said the project will be growing from initial plans

Hopefully some more info is released on the increase in interest/project size.

So what exactly is going on at the site now? What is happening in the south east corner?

Not exactly sure what they're doing. But it appears on the south wall the have that angled bracing against the existing church property. Don't think that would extend around the entire site.

But seems they're forming for the outer foundation walls. Specifically along the southern portion of the west edge of the site. Looks like vertical walls being pout up. I can't really see where all the beams have gone that were laid out in that south east corner. Also not sure what that line of vertical steel columns/piles is extending out from the south wall. One of those mysteries that will be out of site soon enough.

Plenty of activity in the pit this week. Saw a well drilling rig in there yesterday. Anyone know if they're putting in a geothermal system?

Pretty sure there is supposed to be geothermal. Is that's whats going on in the SE corner, where they have the piles and steel bracing?

When's the next TNS announcement coming? Hopefully we'll get something good... I'm hoping for an expansion or at the very least more details on the Sutton Place part of the project.

Walking past the site yesterday I noticed on the boards around the site it has different attributes of what will be there like offices, retail, hotel, parking. One that stood out though was theater. Has anything been said about that before?

That'd be interesting. I wonder if they're just referring to the area? RWB is across the street. Hopefully some juicy details are revealed today. The residential portion will be tricky I think. SkyCity sales seem to have stalled.

Haven't heard a thing about that... a new cinema would be awesome. I loved going to movies at Portage Place right up to the bitter end and I wish that theatre was still around.

But that said, I honestly wonder how they would manage to attract patrons given that every other cinema on or around Portage has closed down. And with hockey over 80 nights a year, that's a good chunk of the calendar where people won't want to fight traffic around MTS Centre to go see a movie.

Maybe referring to Prairie Theatre Exchange in Portage Place, nearby. I can't imagine a new theatre venue or movie theatre in the development. Could be wrong though.

Isn't the outdoor plaza meant to be an "outdoor" theatre, if you will, where fans can congregate and watch the game on large screens?

I know what you mean, but "theatre" would be a weird word to use to in that context.

I have no idea which performing arts group would want/have the means to move into a new theatre... I would think PTE is served just fine by its current facility.

We have a surplus of performing arts spaces in this town... it would be strange if Longboat wanted to add another one.

Does anyone know if this thing is open to the public? I might go over there. It's now 12:20 and I've heard nothing! Ahhhh!

This development is going to be a lot of things that may seem unusual to us. The interpretation of theatre remains to be seen, as are the other retail tenants to set up business here.(save for what is known). Good times for the area are in store.
