Don’t worry, we’ll get more boxes which look just like those soon enough.

It's actually a pretty cool office building by Pickard Chilton, the firm that designed The Sundial.

It's a shame The Sundial never happened. Still one of the coolest looking proposals we've had.

This is just throwing salt in the wound.

Maybe the Sundial will come back when the economy picks up? No?

It's the office market, in general, throughout the country. Although, I believe demand for very high-end Class A office is there. It just means that we'll most likely have more vacancies for Class B & C offices. Regardless, I still think it would be awesome if Ryan Smith brought his Qualtrics HQ to be adjacent to his new entertainment quarter. Build it on the Zions Bank lot or on the West Quarter's designated Office tower.

I see the Qualtrics HQ relocation mentioned a few times, so I did a little research, as it turns out he no longer owns the company although he remains an executive chairman. Seattle has about 2000 employees versus around 1200 in Provo. Neither of the private equity owners are based or tied to Utah from what I can tell. Not saying it's impossible but it feels kind of unlikely for a company to up and disrupt operations to relocate HQ for no clear benefit directly to Qualtrics. Maybe they could move Provo co-HQ to SLC but would still have to question why, that would be a long commute and disrupt operations and it's unclear what benefit that would create for the company. Having worked for several PEs in my years that is usually their only question on any strategic change, how does it create an ROI.

Maybe he could offer free or discounted rent? Not sure...

In construction news, "The Edison" seems to be well underway. Shorter project than we all hoped for but I think it will nicely fill that gap between Edison St. and 200E.

I think the Edison could be a very nice development. The key will be the exteriors. If they use cheap exteriors, this could be disappointing. Also, the retail/restaurants that will be included will make a big difference.
