Maybe the entrance would look better if the building structure to the west side was new as well instead of O'Calcutta.

On the entrance topic. We had been talking about how the entrance is only on the side of the facade, not through the old entrance. I did see the other day, looks there is a gate on the old front entrance. And it was open with people going in. So maybe they do use both entrances, I'm not really sure.
The front is only open 9-5.

Maybe having more people here could help that giant parking lot get something going. Does anyone know if the African Community Centre people ended up building somewhere cheaper or abandon the project all together?

Those Calvary Temple people sure like to have lots of convenient parking at hand without the bother of a parkade.

That part of downtown, "north of Portage" which is the poor part still, just needs to be bulldozed and a whole lot of new skyscrapers built.

If I were looking at a condo. in Glasshouse, I would not want a north facing suite, but one looking to the more shiny south or east.

And despite living at 87 Smith St., a dark brown walk-up, for 13 1/2 yrs., I'm not a big fan of brown coloured apartments. That goes especially for the St. Charles Hotel.

Yes, that part needs a lot of developments. The problem is not enough people moving to the city, which is what fuels development. There are only so many people to go around, and there are many neighborhoods in need of investment.

Last I heard in Sept 2015 there was a 1 year extension on the parking lot use to provide them more time for finding money to build it.

Oh that's interesting, I thought it was completely dead. The sign still says construction starting 2012 haha.

This article from the Winnipeg Sun is the last thing I have seen on it.

Bulldozed? Why? There are some really nice heritage buildings in that picture, such as two "flat iron" style buildings, and many other heritage buildings. Not to mention the abundance of surface lots that potential new developments could go on.

Please, no bulldozing anywhere, at all.

I like the north view. As long as you are higher than the surroundings.

Exactly what I see when I look at that photo - not exactly inviting as is, but it has some nice ingredients in place already and lots of blank space for infill. Bulldozing much of it would be a bad idea.

That last photo is pretty much the west end of Winnipeg's exchange district blending into the rest of the city's core area. Spots of heritage buildings mixed with parking lots. Instead of bulldozing, fill it in.

Article on SkyCity has a small blurb on Glasshouse. First occupancy scheduled for Aug. 3.
