there is such a question. i feel that the building that got built is eons better than any of the renderings released before construction started. i find solarwind's image below to be far better and "punchier" than anything we saw in any of the renderings. i must disagree with every fiber of my being that this is a disappointing building; for me, it actually turned out better than i thought it would. it's obviously not a ground-breaking work of architecture or anything, but it's a very good, solid addition to the riverscape and skyline.

Well, that's what I get for adding something a bit subjective into my post...

Anyway, honestly I am happy for you that you like the building. I don't think it's done any real harm, so if it brings people happiness, more power to it.

However, you and I both seem to agree that there is a large division between the character of the renders and what was built, which really was the point I was trying to make...

My favorite views of the building, by the way, are from the north when the contrast is more crisp, and in small sections as BVictor shows us above.

What's wrong with someone disagreeing with you, its just normal discussion. I tend to lean more towards your side of the argument and I'm glad you expressed your opinion. I'm not disappointed per say, but more nonchalant towards this building.

^ Nothing wrong with it at all; go right ahead. Hence the little winkity-wink, ja?

I was making fun of myself for opening up a crack in the argument, that's all.

I think it's gorgeous! I'd kill for a building like that to be built in Phoenix...kill!

There is a large barge, with large mobile crane, preparing to take down the last of the S crane this morning.

I wish there was more of a distinction on the horizontal setbacks on the East and West side. It could have been pronounced more effectively.

Agreed 100%. The biggest problem with this building is in the articulation and clarity of the design. It's just a muddy mess to me visually.

Very well said. I get to see this building every day here at work and it is amazing....

Also with 155 N Wacker and 300 N Clark both supporting vertical silver fins I am happy they didn't over do it on this building.

Fantastic photos. Are these from your residence? If so, what a view!

I hope that is not what's happening.
According to K&E's Executive Director, "The last few floors still require Low-E vision glass installation. They are working to finish the rooftop vertical fins, which will give 300 North LaSalle its striking presence..."
