Not sure what the plan is for that. I do know the DDD has a plan to redo 19 blocks with stormwater management features but I can not find any details on which blocks

A new 10,000 square-foot meeting room with views of downtown New Orleans. A glassed-encased ballroom overlooking the Mississippi River. Indoor and outdoor spaces for meetings and exhibits.

These are some of the next upgrades envisioned for the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center, where a $557 million renovation is moving forward following a legal dispute over who will manage the next phases of construction.

Convention Center president Michael Sawaya said the plan is progressing with Indianapolis, Indiana-based AECOM Hunt and Metairie-based Broadmoor as the project’s construction manager after a series of legal challenges from the losing bidders.

According to a report by the Times-Picayune | New Orleans Advocate, both of the competing joint partnerships – one comprised of Metro Services Group, The Lemoine Co. and McDonnel Construction Services, the other led by Woodward Design + Build – argued in August that the AECOM Hunt/ Broadmoor consortium should be disqualified because the group had not secured a Louisiana contractor’s license.

Sawaya said those challenges have been settled, and discussions are now underway on cost estimates for upgrading the 1.1 million-square-foot facility. The Exhibition Hall Authority, the entity that runs the Convention Center, voted on a $2 million preconstruction budget for design work last month.

The old Falstaff Brewery near Tulane and Broad used to have an open-air observation deck bar on the highest level.

You could rent the deck for private parties. I was up there in the 1970s. There was a pretty neat view of the city at night. I was told the deck was at the height of an 11 story building, and I think it was only 6 stories up, but I don't know that for sure.

I know we have and had venues with views but a strictly observation deck I can’t recall unless Hibernia had one back in the day. Did top of the mart have anything dedicated just to observation ?

U.S. 11 Bridge will reopen Thursday
Wednesday, March 30, 2022 at 10:27:36 AM
SLIDELL, La. — The U.S. 11 Bridge will reopen to vehicular traffic on Thursday, March 31, 2022 by 3:00 p.m.

In 2018, crews began the $28.36 million dollar project to make concrete and structural repairs, replace the grid deck, paint, install a new fender system, and to rehabilitate the electrical and mechanical systems on the two drawbridges.

Although the bridge is opening for vehicular traffic, the contractor will continue working to complete several punch list items. Should this work require the contractor to close a lane on the bridge, a flagging operation will be in place to allow the bridge to remain open to traffic. In order to perform tests and make final adjustments to the bridge’s mechanical equipment, there will be several nighttime closures of the bridge in April. When possible, any work requiring a full closure of the bridge will take place during nighttime hours.

Marine traffic will still have width restrictions when passing through the bridge until the testing and adjustments are completed.

Yes......there was an observation area with a bar at the top of the World Trade Center building called "The Top of the Mart" and the entire room rotated around the bar area that was permanently in place and never moved. It took an hour for the seating area that surrounded the bar area to make a full rotation around the bar area....thereby the seating / table area that surrounded the bar had an incredible few of the entire city after one complete rotation of the moving floor. The floor to ceiling windows that provided the incredible view were permanent and never moved. I'll NEVER forget the first time my parents took me up to the "Top of the Mart" as a teenager.............the view of the river........the city......looking straight down Canal Street toward Metairie.....skyline......sooo freakin' awesome!!!!
