I don't mean to sound like a prick when I say, as politely as I can, that I very much agree to disagree.

"Cool as hell" if you mean you're college-aged and a twister just took out a few panes at Centennial Tower a few blocks down from where you were living, and you're drunk at a frat house most of the time, so that was "cool as hell" then, except now they're building it from scratch and the cool part of the twister doing that is taken out of the equation.

But to each their own. I did like the silvery-reflective renderings of 3AC when they came out. What they're building now is Centennial Tower, with the "tornado look", just not quite as many panes popped out, and no tornado. I would love to have been on the architectural team, tasked with just which panes to give the popped out tornado look. If any sort of drugs were involved, I wouldn't have even asked for actual compensation. Just health insurance, and drugs.

I've got to redeem myself so as not to be a troll, and just say that there are actually buildings going up or about to go up in Atlanta that I think are looking fine as fuck. Of the many many buildings rising up like weeds now, this just ain't one of them and you all were sold a bill of fucking goods. But as is the truth in any growing city, you can't get a Gisele Bundchen out of every new building.

Our latest crown jewel here in SF is an apartment community called...Jasper...yea, they did their drugs not as much in the design phase as in the naming phase. They also had it out for the city because there is now a 40 story west facing blank wall for those of us who like to look at the skyline, from the city where most people can see it, where we all live, as opposed to the waterfront, where nobody fucking lives, where they put the elevator banks. I thought they banned the "side core" concept years ago, but needlessly, the design team and developer resurrected it for us all here in this city. Yea, couldn't be a more blatant fuck you from the team that brought you..."Jasper"...and charged more "fuck you" assholes who haven't even lived in the city yet $7-8psf more than any of us low-lifes already living here in wooden 4 story walk ups. So yea, all the cities have a 3AC as far as I'm concerned.

I remember somebody saying that the intent of the glass treatment at Three Alliance was to break up the reflectiveness and try to keep it from just being a giant mirror.

Whether this is the best way to do that I can't say but I don't think it's simply ornamental.

The renderings, especially of the lobby and entrance, were really interesting. I hope that the finished product does them justice.

I may be counting incorrectly, but I only see 21 stories out of an eventual 30 completed, and fewer than that with the façade installed, so I think it would be foolish of me to make any blanket statements about its design based on what we've seen so far.

Who is in charge of this mess? The parking deck and tower have completely contrasting shades of beige. The tower's color looks absolutely terrible in person.

I think if you're talking about the bottom of the tower, I don't think they've put cladding there yet which will match the parking deck..that's why it's still that weird pink color.

They flipped The Atlantic to condos, so not out of the question.

That Skyhouse-ey rendering has been up for a while.

The Atlantic was built as condos, went back to the lender after the housing crash and then offered as apartments by the new owner. I'm sure they always had the intention of returning them to condos once the market improved.

Relay bike share just removed the hubs that they set up in Midtown. I contacted them about it, and they said "We were getting an impressive amount of usage from the Midtown Drop Zones, so I'm not opposed to setting up the hubs again if we get a lot of feedback to keep the Drop Zones."
So if you want the bike share to expand immediately into Midtown, I urge you to send them feedback:

Not sure if mentioned already, but the site bounded by Williams, Spring, and 16th has been cleared. Also AMLI Arts Center has completed what seems to the one floor of it's parking deck. Hanover West Peachree has removed the wood supports for it's cencrete lobby, and Modera seems to be picking up steam. I work on Spring, so I see lots of construction on the way home!

That isn't to say things don't pick up during certain events or times (for example, Crescent obviously draws people at night), but overall I'd agree with the other people who feel that this area, currently, lacks the same activity as other parts of Midtown.

Just my observations / experiences.
I work in this area, and part of the reason it feels less active than other parts of Midtown is the lack of affordable eating after hours. If they could put something in the old Veni Vidi Vici and Trois / Article 14 / Olmstead spaces, it would make a big difference, and whatever goes on street level at AMLI Arts Center, Atlantic House, and the southeast corner of West Peachtree and 14th could help activity after dark, not to mention all the development coming on Spring between 17th and 14th. Hell, there isn't much reason to be on Spring north of 10th even during the day at the moment.

AMLI's street level along West Peachtree is only going to be the leasing/amenity spaces. The retail spaces along Spring Street are questionably shallow but could be an interesting opportunity to work with SCAD for studio/gallery spaces since it is part of the Arts Center District.
