This building from the South is an absolute masterpiece, and my mind cannot be changed. When finished it will be in my top 10 favorite for the city I think

Looking at the tower from the northwest. I see it every day but its size still impresses me.

I remember when I thought 1130 S Michigan was really tall for the South Loop... How the times have changed

Terrible news, but interesting angle of NEMA, (from https://www.chicagotribune.com/news/...013-photo.html )

I agree the South to North view is the best angle on this beauty. Would more people have had views of the park and the rest of downtown if it were flipped the other way, or does the current position offer more views in that direction? It's also kind of sad that millions of people in the park every year won't see it from that angle.

Makes me wonder if it's getting the cube crown after all.

There is no reason to believe it wouldn't as it is depicted in the rendering on the project's website.

^ The website is just a landing page, so it is pretty likely it wouldn't see any updates for something that isn't exactly critical.

We have seen newer renderings that show it without the cube.

The rendering you referenced above is from another developer. Again there is no reason to believe the design has changed unless there has been some updated rendering or documentation depicting a change from Crescent Heights. Anything short of that is an assumption.

^ while I'm inclined to believe the steel frame box may still be atop the tower, the rendering you are showing has to be out of date since the floors between setbacks is clearly different now than it is in the image

The only difference between the rendering and the actual building is it lost four floors between the third setback and the amenities floor which is in line with the reduced floor count which was documented. The rendering is at 80 stories.

Looks like this is the second tallest building in Chicago south of Willis Tower; the tallest is 311 South Wacker Drive. Nice to see more tall buildings on the south side of the city. The skyline as viewed from the lake shore keeps getting better and better!

How much do you think the cheapest condos in this building will sell for?
