"The 62-year-old bridge has been closed to vehicles since August 2019 so PennDOT workers could repair and repaint its steel superstructure and replace the deck. There are also some upgrades, including wider sidewalks and a dedicated bicycle lane that extends along Chestnut Street between 34th Street and 22nd Street."
Awesome, I'll run across today.

I think we all know your thoughts on krasner by now. Don't think I ever need you to discuss the topic again. Thanks!

Im glad you are here to regulate thoughts and posts. we would be lost otherwise. And no one on here EVER makes similar points in more than one post. Perish the thought! I don't need you to make that comment again, thanks!

Hopefully you are on patrol when we get the upteenth post about councilperson X being a total moron because they propose something one or two people on here don't agree with. I rarely see much outrage or pushback on those posts.

Putting this here for general discussion - I like this trend! Hopefully more companies follow suit.

Penn Medicine, Drexel and Wawa will provide free SEPTA passes to employees
SEPTA is looking for ways to rebuild ridership from the steep pandemic plunge.
https://www.inquirer.com/transportation/septa-key-passes-drexel-penn-wawa-20220321.html

"In a longer play to win back riders, Penn Medicine, Drexel, and Wawa have agreed to pay $140 each for six months’ worth of passes for about 15,600 eligible workers, SEPTA officials said. The six-month demonstration project begins May 1, with a plan to make the arrangement permanent and expand it to other employers if it’s successful.

An “Anywhere” pass that gives access to all transit services plus regional rail normally costs individual riders $204 a month.

The program will be known as SEPTA Key Advantage. People who want to use the benefit can get a Key card loaded by their employer or have the cash balance loaded onto an already active card."

Yes. Thanks for all of the car jackings and shootings lately down here in Fairmount. I’m sure you all feel good about yourselves up there in leafy Mount Airy.

I know you can't explain it one sentence, but I wish I could talk in person to understand how Krasner is responsible for the uptick in crime. I'd love to hear the mental gymnastics you'd perform to prove it.

Crime is WAY UP across America, and somehow it's all because of Larry Freaking Krasner.

A Grand West Philly Tower Will Be Converted to Apartments

Quote:
52nd & Market has long been a hub of activity, dating at least back to the building of the Market-Frankford Line and its station at this corner in the early 20th century. Just to the south, at 17-23 S. 52nd St., stands an unusually tall building for this location.

So what is in store for the future? According to recent zoning documents, this building will soon shift back to its mixed-use roots and become 44 apartments over two ground floor commercial spaces. Harman Deutsch Ohler is handling the design and they sure have a great canvas to work with.

Well the argument against Krasner is that once they catch these violent criminals, its a day or two before they're back out on the street.

Philicon Square to Bring Silicon Valley-like Hacker House To Temple

Site plan:

Completed "Temple I: Tech Mansion" on the Northwest corner of 11th & Susquehanna:

Renderings of "Temple II" coming to the Northeast corner of 11th & Susquehanna:

Quote:
The area east of Temple University and the Silicon Valley are rarely mistaken for one another. However, one company is working on bringing these wildly different areas a little bit closer. NYCE is a real estate and investment platform that crowdsources funding for projects that focus on bringing tech and entrepreneurs together in a “hacker house” type environment. The company recently completed TEMPLE I: The Tech Mansion at the corner of 11th & Susquehanna. This 17-unit project was so successful in fact, it appears that there may be more in store.

It's an argument. It's certainly not based in fact. But hey, when has that stopped right wing dipshits before?

Not a revelation really, but I enjoyed the article/stats nonetheless:

Baltimore, Philly housing prices 40% cheaper than DC

https://wtop.com/business-finance/2022/03/baltimore-philly-housing-prices-40-cheaper-than-dc/

The median price of a home that sold in the D.C. metro area in February was $526,000, up 10.6% from February 2021 and near an all-time high, but prices in two of our nearest big city neighbors are considerably less.

In the Baltimore metro, the median selling price last month was $319,000, or 39% less than the D.C. area. And in the Philly metro, the median selling price of $295,000 was 44% below the D.C. region, according to listing service Bright MLS.

Total active listings on the market in the Baltimore area last month were down 12.3% from a year earlier, and 64.3% below February 2020. In Philadelphia, the number of homes for sale was down 34% from a year earlier, and down 63.3% from two years ago.

As a result, there were fewer sales. Closed sales in Philadelphia so far this year are down 6.3% from last year, and down 8.9% in the Baltimore region. Inventory remained fairly steady in both D.C. and Philadelphia compared to the previous month, but the number of listings in Baltimore fell another 5.7%. The number of property showings by real estate agents was down about 8% from a year ago in Baltimore and about 9% in Philadelphia.

The three housing markets aren’t that different, but, particularly for the District itself, there is a distinct difference.

^^The fact that we're cheaper than Baltimore and yet people are still claiming Philadelphia has some mythical affordability problem

Definitely rooting for Baltimore to turn it around! One contiguous Northeast corridor with amazing cities would be great from not only us, but for international travelers looking to traverse our neck of the woods
