Nice proposal! Not many condos coming to market so far, but some condos is better than none (even if we'll never be able to afford the luxury condos)! If all this development goes, midtown will really be bustling! Have to wonder how much longer the lots on 12th and 13th will remain.

Can't help but wonder when a hotel (or condo or corporate use) doesn't come along to assemble some of those either A) before the alleyway parcels or B) beyond the alleyway properties to put up something special. Between NCR a block away, Georgia Tech's CODA 2 blocks away, Hanover Midtown 2 blocks away and 880 West Peachtree Alexa (for now Drew Eckl) going up right across the street that block is prime location.

Anyone have any great ideas for that 7th to 8th St block along West Peachtree ?

Isn't 880 W Peachtree getting really close to construction?

That retail will do a lot for that corner.

Fingers crossed we get more office and condo buildings in Midtown. Lots of activity going on lately. Looking forward to more permanent residents and corporate jobs in the neighborhood.

That's exactly what I was just thinking! Since Smallwood, Reynolds, Stewart, Stewart is the project architect on this SLS project AND the 1138 Peachtree proposal (not to mention Scott Leventhal being involved), I'd put money on that other building being the latest 1138/Yoo proposal...

It appears we can kiss those twisting tower designs goodbye:

Quote:
In late 2013, New York developers including Ashkenazy Acquisition Corp. and Olympia Heights Management pitched their first proposals for the project at 98 14th St. — a $650 million plan to build a trio of twisting towers. It would have included 1,300 residential units, 90,000 square feet of retail and a 340-room hotel.

It’s unclear if Ashkenazy is still involved, but Zickert said the project does have capital partners lined up behind it.

The ongoing delay between the initial plans and the start of construction is leading to doubts the project will break ground this cycle.

“This project is by no means dead,” said Zickert.

In fact, Perkins + Will could as soon as July bring the project back before Midtown’s Development Review Committee, according to a spokeswoman for the firm.

Perkins + Will replaces previous project architect Arquitectonica. “That was an intentional decision to keep the design team local for such a significant project,” Zickert said.

I hope the duck is permanent.

Regarding 98 14th architecture design, I wasn't fully on board with the designs. Will be curious if/how much the design changes. Hopefully we get decent crowns- something this cycle has been lacking

Trilist is the same company that's designing Yoo on Peachtree so I think Street Advocate's theory about the other building in the rendering being Yoo on Peachtree is correct, plus it looks just like the rendering I remember. Hopefully that breaks ground soon as well.

Okay, I gotta admit, I like the duck. There's a giant duck by the pool at the Miami Beach hotel too. Very whimsical and iconic.

Midtown

Midtown in 2 years is going to be completely unrecognizable. It's going to be a fantastic urban neighborhood.

It's still not entirely clear to me that it will be a completely new design. The "project architect" can mean a firm that finishes the project and works on the remaining phases of the design but the basic appearance is the same.

Thanks. I liked the original twisting design but I don't think it was exceptional.
