Is the SMD Company Burger officially closed for good? It was always so busy...sad.

Anything on the former Starbucks?

I was driving down Magazine St yesterday and saw that The Salad Station is finally coming to fruition, so that's pretty cool!

It is closed for good, I tended bar there for a long time prior to the pandemic. Unfortunaltey with the lack of office crowd and no Pels/Saints/concerts it didn't make sense to stay open. They called it last June, I believe Distirct Donuts is taking over the space

Hope District strays from their other concepts by offering a bar…that stretch needs something to bring activity into the evening.

I was told they're getting rid of the bar, I didn't realize District's owners are super jesus people. Should help Willa Jean out though

Yeah you def won’t see a full bar in their places.that said I think anything that will do well in the SMD needs to have a delivery side to their business to be able to make it.

Is Willa Jean still closing super early? I’ve always thought they’re missing the dinner/bar opportunity.

Has the office crowd not been coming back over the last few months? Seemed like pre pandemic that company burger and most of the SMD was pretty crowded most days at lunch etc.

Are there any renderings of what the Chik Fil A on Tulane Ave will look like?

I also wonder of any new/upcoming announcements of development on Tulane. Curious what Sidney Torres has planned next since he bought that block!

They are redesigning it a bit at the behest of the DAC.

I was on that Zoom call today for the Odeon and they showed an updated SMD map with the new tenants (District Donuts (formerly Company Burger), Tava Indian Street Food (formerly Aglio), Terry Dental Aesthetics and a clothing company replacing Lukka Boutique).

However, Starbucks was still shown at the corner of O'Keefe and Girod. Does that mean anything?

They really knocked the Four Seasons out of the park, looks just like the renderings! A good friend is their beverage director and is going to give me a tour soon, don't think photos are allowed yet though.

Its possible they idled that location until traffic returns.
