Isn't the ring inspired by GCT's Beaux Arts clock? I quite like it although I realize the final design may be different.

I had thought that the ring was a reference to the circular windows on GCT's exterior:

I vaguely remember something being said or asked about ut at one if those meetings. But it wasn’t important.

It's not a deal breaker, but it's pretty ugly. You probably won't see it from the street though.

I don't mind the ring personally, it doesn't bother me since I'm way more concerned about the building's effect on the skyline than the lobby

I think that ring provides a nice focal point for the interior. If we’re gonna complain about that, we’re just reaching.

The lobby ring might also be a minimalist reference to the clock.

Yep, Hermes. Hercules to the left and Athena to the right.

Another rendering photomontage I've made, showing how nicely this tower frames Chrysler from the east:

Nicecrendering. It makes me wish 270 had a more elaborate crown. In midtown east, the get the skyline game.

Will it really appear that much bigger than One Vandy from that angle? Holy crap if so. It looks ginormous.

It's got about twice the square footage on basically the same lot size, so it has to be a lot bulkier to squeeze the space in in roughly the same height.

As much as I am ready to watch this building come down, it's good to see life inside again.

I like the plan for more pedestrian space on Lex. Hopefully, they’ll add planters too.
