A large concrete pour appears to be happening now, although its not the secondary mat. Looks to be very large area just to the east of it.

Also, are those concrete pumps arranged in a daisy-chain fashion to send it a very long distance? Looks like the reach of a single machine is insufficient, and some sort of temporary pumping tower is in place where a vehicle can not reach.

Pardon the dumb question, but how to you create a smooth concrete surface if you are walking around in it while you are spreading it?

I believe the guy in front of where they are placing the concrete is using a vibrator to help settle it. Two workers on the left side are using a screed to level the concrete and another is using a bull float to finish the surface. After that they won't walk on it for awhile until it starts to cure.

One of my friends owns a concrete pumping business. He said that the placement boom is a putzmeister and is self jacking to go up as the building rises. Watched forum for years never posted. Thought I would give some insight.

Man they are really cranking on this one. I assume there will probably be another climbing pump on the West core as well? Or will this one reach across the entire project? I assume it can't since the area it is placed in will set back after less than half the total project height.

Both climbing cores will have Concrete Placing Booms. Not sure if the CPB on the tubular pedestal will be moved to one of the cores, or if there will eventually be 3 CPBs.

The photo documentation of construction thus far has already been awesome. This is going to be jaw dropping to watch rise.

Reminds me of that silly movie "Twister" and the tanker truck flying by Bill Paxton in his sturdy Ram pickup!

Harry, these are stud rails, not embed plates. Similar look, different function. These strengthen the area around the column, nothing will be welded to these. If you look closely, they're sitting on plastic slab spacers. The bottom strip of steel will be covered with concrete.
