Seems as if GT is relocating and expanding, but is it a No Frills that is going in their old spot?

Salvation Army, Planet Fitness, Giant Tiger, Christmas Discounters and the Pharmacy Shoppe are the main tenants AFAIK.

Thanks!! That is what I had heard but the signage the last time I saw it resembled No Frills. May well have been the old GT colours too.

Could Planet Fitness be having second thoughts? A new large "for lease" sign appeared on Mapleton in front of where PF would go. That said the interior renovations appear to be ongoing.

Doesn't seem to be. Moncton is showing up on their website now with a pre-grand opening "soon"

I looked again and the sign is intended to be more central- it's probably closer to the front of the Dollarama- but I couldn't see what was empty, maybe it's one of the smaller retail spaces on the perpendicular to Mapleton.

There is signage up for a new store opening in the Lounsbury Centre called The Kozy Shop. I have no additional information.

This is the Kozy Quilt which is in the plaza with Mr. Lube moving to a larger storefront. I believe she wants to carry more things like bathing suites, etc.

Thanks. I thought as much, I just wasn't sure (with the name change) if this was a relocation, or a new affiliated venture.

New apartment proposal for the west end of Mountain Road:

Two six storey apartment buildings (with enclosed parking) totalling 150 units, near Woodhaven Court.

The new default height for generic apartment buildings in Moncton now seems to be six storeys (rather than four storey vinyl clad wood construction). Some progress at least.........

Previous discussion concerning that trailer park in the background. This was the closest I could get with the drone, however, you can clearly see the trailer park being consumed by new development.

This massive apartment unit seemed to have appeared out of nowhere at the end of Read street. First floor all concrete, above floors 2x6 wood frame prefab.

I drove by that on Wheeler a couple weeks ago, but never posted anything about it as I assumed I had just missed it. We are all usually on top of things. Speaking of missing things, has anybody seen the building they built behind the M-O headquarters? I saw a new building there but again, assumed I had just missed someone posting about it.

Agreed BlackYear, your drone photography is a constant highlight of this forum. Your contributions are very much appreciated!

Regarding this apartment building under construction near the Moncton Hospital, I have been aware of this project for some time, but never really mentioned it on the forum. There are a number of projects around the city (especially in the industrial parks, but also in less well travelled parts of the city) which never get any publicity.

The factors that I personally use in deciding whether or not to mention a project or a building under construction include:

1) - the size of the project
2) - the location of the project (if it is downtown, it will get noticed 100% of the time)
3) - the importance of the project (mixed use or commercial will generate more discussion than purely residential).
4) - the architectural significance of the project
5) - if the project is likely to be controversial or not (generates discussion).

Finally, some projects (those not requiring PAC variances) can get into advanced stages of planning or even construction without anyone really noticing.

Obviously anyone can make a post on any project anywhere in the metro area. If anyone sees something they think others should be aware of, please bring it forward. The building above probably should have entered discussion at least several weeks ago because of it's visibility from Wheeler Boulevard, and the recent appearance of the (mini) tower crane.

I know here in Freddy, when projects need variances, they tend to get a lot of chatter, and a lot of comments about "why are you building *high value projects* when we need so much low income housing.

I usually try to counter that these PAC variance projects are just the very tip of the iceberg for projects going on in the city. When driving around the city (a lot easier now with few people out and about), I'm amazed at the amount of construction going on, mostly residential, mostly multiunit projects, that haven't generated a peep anywhere, mostly because they are just the fairly 'standard' projects that don't need any variances and don't draw attention to themselves.

With how common "mixed use" projects are getting nowadays, along with the "concrete base, wood top" construction style, it usually isn't needed to draw much attention to those projects; but it can be good to point them out to highlight more growth going on.
