Winnipeg by the Numbers

Brent Bellamy is part of that corporate base. He argues Winnipeg may not be a Toronto, Montreal or Vancouver but it “is a far wealthier place than it was in the mid-1990s.” To bolster his argument, Mr. Bellamy sends along an interesting set of numbers:

Awesome to see them run that. Toronto sports journos blindly speculating on Winnipeg's economy is beyond frustrating!

It was reported that a slightly modified deal may be in the works, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. But Hulsizer has dismissed this totally. Check it out on the following. Hulsizer won't change deal

How about this part?

"...
At this point, it appears the fate of the municipal bonds will be known within 10 days. If so, it is believed the NHL will make a decision then on whether to sell to True North rather than draw the process out even further

If I remember correctly, you had a Tupac avatar a while back, and now it's the TSN jetsmeter (which should be way higher, imo), but what was your last picture? I could never figure it out...

Theres something nice about the idea that we might get OUR team back. If it was any other city, we might feel a bit guilty about it. Even if they don't call them the Jets - I can live without the name, really.. it was never really that clever.

But like any sports game, it aint over til its over. Is Bettman going to pull the goalie and try to push for an overtime win? Is Glendale going to call a time out and figure out a brilliant strategy at the last minute? Will they move the team to Las Vegas just to mess with us even more? I wouldn't put it past them.

I love the fact that GWI told Bettman they had no interest in meeting with him.

Would like to hear how Bettman explains to the BOG how he is accepting $170M from TNSE when Balsillie had offered $240M two years previous when the NHL picked up last years losses and probably another $15 million of this years losses (expected to be $40M)

I believe it's the other way around. GWI invited the CoG, the NHL, and Hulitzer to an open-media discussion, to which only Hulitzer replied to.

I personally find it disappointing that Phoenix is going to loose it's NHL team, I mean one of the main reasons that the Coyotes are royally screwed is due to the numbnuts decision of building the Jobing.com Arena in Glendale where the hockey fan population is... close to zero XD. If I remember correctly a large amount of hockey fans are more or less in the eastern side of the metropolitan area like Scottsdale.
