It is probably just a "groundbreaking" like NCR hosted a couple months before they actually broke ground

That's true it may just be a groundbreaking ceremony which would still be very exciting for a project like this. There does seem to be an awful lot of smoke concerning 98 14th lately.

City launches Atlanta City Studio at Ponce City Market.

The City of Atlanta will launch its first urban design pop-up studio during a ceremony Monday at Ponce City Market.

The studio will serve as an incubator, workspace and meeting place for residents, visitors, design professionals and curious urbanists to connect and share ideas, as well as development plans, Mayor Kasim Reed's office said. The space will be on the second floor of the Market Hall across from Elk Head, on the West Elm side. The studio will remain at Ponce City Market for approximately six months and then move to a different location.

Gee...I wonder what they're implying with a glassy building on the corner with "TECH" in the signage.....

An Apple store? That would be amazing. If this, the retail development at Campanile, and 12th and Peachtree development develops, you could develop a nice shopping retail core that can bring the crowds and make the area a lot more dynamic.

Re Colony Square

Anyone else notice the "Theater" sign on top of the marketplace? A movie theater would be clutch. I can't be the only midtowner sick of settling on the chaos as Atlantic station or the trek to Phipps.

Yes, a theater on Peachtree would be excellent for those of us who live intown!

A close friend of mine told me this weekend that he had heard that EATALY was considering the revamped Colony Square for a first-to-market store in Atlanta!

Whatever ends up going in at Colony Square, it definitely looks like it's going to have a transformative impact on the Midtown experience.

Heck, those 3 towers alone could almost support a movie theatre. I don't think it would be a stretch to think Midtown would be able to handle two theatres once all these residential projects come to market. We're going to have a LOT more people living in Midtown (and visiting), in the next few years.

I too recall this being mentioned.

So much more activity could be coming to this area. 195 13th St, Campanile expansion, Colony Square expansion, 1125 Peachtree, 98 14th St, MOB, and Whole Foods... That's a wild list covering what is essentially six blocks. Not to mention what was recently constructed and is under construction.

A theater in Colony Square is not at all surprising. Someone suggested a theater to Mark Toro to which he replied "which one?". Plus there is easily a market for more intown theaters.

Definitely. Atlantic Station is the busiest movie theatre in the entire Southeast...it overfloods on weekends. Midtown needs one.

Sometimes you can catch some "mainstream" movies at the Midtown Arts Cinemas as well....
