AMLI only filed for rezoning of the properties. I don't think they ever filed for permits.

Just going off what Toro said. We'll see what ends up in there, but all of my coworkers and neighbors are dying for a decent pizza place in Colony Square.

In NAP's defense (or whatever), 5Church's lease was signed before NAP/Lionstone closed on the building.

Some unrelated tidbits: Some of the new traffic lights are up along 7th for the two-way conversion, and workers are really putting in long hours at the QuikTrip... it looks nowhere near finished but I think they're trying to get it open ASAP so it may not be too long from now. Also, something is being done to the power lines on Spring at 10th where Hanover West Peachtree is finally rising up... possibly just replacing the poles, but hopefully moving or burying them.
Wow - great to hear traffic light are going up on 7th St as part of two way conversion !! Thanks for sharing. Do you have any photos and are lights going up on Cypress or West Peachtree St or just crosswalk signs on Peachtree - or elsewhere?

Thanks for sharing all 7th St updates !!

West Peachtree has lights in both direction now preparing for the 2-way conversion along the Alta Midtown project up toward Peachtree Street. Street parking will have to be removed to allow for the 2-way traffic. Not sure if 7th street will maintain right of way as through traffic at the Cypress Street intersection or not as of current design or if it will become a 4-way stop; there wouldn't be a need for a light at this minor intersection due to low traffic counts.

Quote:
7th Street Two-way Conversion - The Connect Atlanta Plan calls for 7th Street to be converted to two-way traffic between West Peachtree Street and Piedmont Avenue. Design plans were permitted and construction awarded in late-2015. Contractors mobilized in March to install hardscape including the concrete footer for the new traffic signal mast arm at Peachtree and 7th Streets and new ADA ramps at Cypress and 7th Streets. The full street conversion, including widening and re-paving of one block, and installation of traffic signals, signage, and pavement re-striping will be completed by June 2016.

America's First Pop-Up Vineyard Coming to 98 14th site.

A four-acre plot on 14th Street is being transformed for the Atlanta Food and Wine Festival into a pop-up vineyard. The vineyard is made up of 60, 20-year-old Sun Grown grapevines, each spanning 12-feet, from Jaemor Farms in Alto, GA, and will be a destination space for several key weekend events. The space will also feature a wildflower meadow and two bocce courts. The installment should be completed by Thursday June 2 in time for the opening of the festival. After the festival ends on June 5, the vineyard will stay up for community events until June 30th.

Now comes the good stuff: in August, OHM, the developer of the long awaited 98 14th Street project and a co-sponsor of the vineyard ,will hold a groundbreaking for the project. You may here numbers like 66 stories; 850 feet and 6 star thrown around.

One Atlantic is 820 feet. so yes that would make it taller. although obviously those numbers are still speculation. For reference, Suntrust Plaza downtown is about 870 feet

I just hope the new design is iconic. Just about every 600+ foot building in Atlanta is post-card worthy when you think about it. The ATT Midtown building is probably the only meh one.

I wonder if they're going to do a spire. I mean, this is a city of spires and crowns. We already have a super gaudy skyline...might as well keep up the trend right? Something that'll make an impression if it's going to be either the 2nd or 3rd tallest building in the city.

Don't count on a spire. This is a hotel and residential building. Floor space will take priority.

Is that land elevation higher or lower than One Atlantic, if so, by how much?

pretty sure it is higher by a couple dozen feet.. but i guess it is yet to be seen how they excavate the site and where they measure building height from. too many unknowns at this point.. i just hope this thing actually gets built

I'm surprised we are hearing of groundbreaking, has this project been through all it's permitting and regional impact review (or whatever that's called)?

Have you seen the plans? I just hope it's not a glass box. Will and Perkins designed some great towers though, one of which that we're all familiar of, Eviva. They also designed this beauty in London.

I have some confidence that it'll be a great looking tower.

Also, I don't expect any groundbreaking until next year. There has been no permits that have gone through, nor have they did the DRI studies yet.

98 14th has been through the DRI process but I do agree that it seems highly unlikely that a project of this scale will break ground three months from now.
