Went by very quickly today. I think it's only been done at the first level at this point. I'm hoping they plan to redo the whole base.

YES!!! THANK YOU!! i thought i was the only one who really HATES all this development at the cost of losing this city's history and its image. however i do like this building a lot, but i really don't think downtown chicago needs ANY more plazas. and why can't projects like this be build in already vacant lots; there are SO many of them. and if something MUST be torn down, there is SO much PoMo CRAP in this city, why is all the good architecture being lost? if you ask me, that HIDEOUS PoMo tower next door and across the street from 155 should have been razed to make way for 155... and nix the plaza

the black is better only in color. The question is...where has all the glass gone?

I have no problem with the changing of the black. I mean, i really don't think it is practical for a building to use black in today's sustainable age. I could not imagine the heat that those babies would suck up.

I think black could have allowed for more of an integration of sustainable ideas, and as long as the roof is required by daley to be green, the place where it is most detrimental on a building to be black, then it'll be not that big of an issue, because the building will not be getting that much direct sunlight on the black wall.

New South loop plan

I saw in Crain's Chicago an article today about a new development proposed in the South Loop in the parcel just north of the River City Condominiums that will include an 80 story tower. I cannot access the information online because to post here because i'm not a subscriber. Can someone please post the article here? Thanks in advance

3 new developments to be moved to site-prep?

I'm thinking that 215 West Washington, the Wit hotel, and 1555 South Wabash (there has been a rig on site for the past few days although I'm not sure if it has done anything yet) are either technically in site-prep or may be soon-to-be in site-prep....

^^^^

I'm curious, Solarwind, how you obtain the exceptional clarity in your photos.

Most of the photos posted by others are very good, but lack the crispness and detail of your shots.

I mustn't have been clear. It always take me a while to return to speaking/thinking in English after spending time in the Mid-east. I was hoping to say that I really dislike the design for the Clare, especially its west and south exposures. I would rather see design elements from the other placed into the Clare's design.

Certainly R. Johnsonesque treaments would be welcomed on the Clare.

Don't forget 255 West Van Buren, which will be between this project and 311 S Wacker, and Roosevelt Collection, which will be one block to the south, as well....

This is the Avalon at 21st and Indiana. They just haven't started to actively market the project yet.

This one is complete, it's Michigan Avenue Tower 1

This one was proposed where the Related Midwest Tower by Ralph Johnson in Streeterville is going. Notice Lake Point Tower in the massing study?
