1010 Midtown also has a permit filed to demise the old CB2 retail spot into two individual tenant spaces.
These are all great news! I'd love to see 880 go during this cycle. I wasn't sure if there was progress happening with that project or not. Hanover Midtown, Juniper & 5th, and Eviva seem to be the remaining Midtown (MARTA station) holdouts...

Interesting. I have heard several "semi" insiders say that financing for apartments was tightening a bit.

(Apologies if this has already been posted, I just didn't see it).

Atlanta multifamily developer Pollack Shores Real Estate Group is shelving plans for a more than 300-unit apartment project in Buckhead, citing concerns of overbuilding in some intown neighborhoods.

Pollack Shores won’t proceed with its 325-unit apartment and retail development at Pharr Road and North Fulton Drive in the Buckhead Village, where several projects are already underway or plan to start later this year.

Some starts may be pushed back, sources said.

The amount of units under construction in Buckhead and Midtown is closely watched. In Buckhead, construction started on 4,153 units during 2014 and 2015, according to The Reid Report, which tracks apartment development across metro Atlanta. Midtown saw 7,672 apartment starts over the same period.

Yeah...I've been hearing it everywhere as well. Loans are so hard to get nowadays. 25k apartment units are currently UC in the Atlanta area(Seattle, another boomtown atm has 20k apartments U/C in the region). That's good for Atlanta when it comes to cycles, but not necessarily good for renters. As a renter, you'd want Atlanta to "overbuild" so that rents stayed depressed for a longer period of time.

What's up with Amli Arts Center? Has that made much progress lately? I keep waiting to see a crane.

So the rumors were correct then about it rising to over 800 feet. Can't wait for the announcement. Looks like the project is getting serious again. I had a feeling they'd probably start this project after this cycle started the cooldown(since construction costs are cheaper) so that the project is completed as the cycle turns back upwards.

98 14th Street Dreams

First Post - long time stalker of the thread.

I will confirm the 98 14th Street rumors, and can even set some tongues wagging a bit more with hard rumors of a 1,000 + foot tower in the first phase, anchored by an extremely high end hotel and condominiums instead of apartments. (Usual caveats included, but it is on good authority)

In less exciting news, I would like to post some construction photos I took. Can anyone recommend the best platform to share them from that is not Flikr?

Thanks in advance, and I hope to add something to the forum.

1k footer would be crazy, but I'd bet on the 800 footer. Also, you can use Imgur to post pictures.

Either Or

Either is fine with me! I questioned the information provider multiple times when I was told this, and their reply was that it would rival BofA in height and be "one of the tallest" in the city. Maybe they are confusing it with OAC, but honestly I get excited about 400+ footers, so anything over 650ft is spellbinding. With the 45 floor building at 17th and Peachtree, this will really change the skyline in Midtown coming down 75 or 85 into the city.

Thanks for the Imgur referral. I took some photos of the Post Centennial project, as well as the Home2 Suites almost completed downtown. If I can figure out how not to post the gigantic photos that make people mad, I will.

Was this building in active use before the Home2Suites construction?

Welcome to the forum and thanks for the pics. Keep us updated if you hear any additional details on the 98 14th St. project!

By the way, I heard (rumor) the 98th project is looking at expanding the retail component to include a movie theater, live music venue and upscale bowling alley.

Awesome, it is about damn time we get a "changer" in the hood. If it is going to be that high, it will tower (no pun) over the IBM tower since it is on a higher point..

all that said about 98 14th, it's still in planning, still needs to go through permitting and regional impact studies and what not. so much could happen during all that. when I see dirt moving, then I'll piss my pants. until then, it's all speculation to me.

It will not reach 1000 feet, but be on the lookout for the June DRC meeting. It should be exciting. And yes, there will be lots of retail.

One of the slides says it could contain 90,000 sq. ft. of retail and try to lure a grocery, such as Whole Foods. I'm all for more groceries, just find it odd that WF was mentioned since there's one going in across the street. Would be incredible having that many more jobs and residences adjacent in Midtown, walkable to the park, and right on MARTA.
