I totally agree, I'd much rather see them renovate it than some boring cheap look that Jaeger will inevitably do.

Also I used to tend bar next to the Odeon, and some of the construction workers told me it's parking garage is designed to be connected to the other side, so I would expect whatever they end up to have parking in some capacity.

Maybe the South Market team is waiting for the Convention Center to select which development team they want to become the Master Developers of the up river acres. South Market developers were apart of a developing team that submitted a proposal. They had a very cool Office / Co-working space idea in their proposal which could be a really great addition as the 6th Phase of the South Market District development. Maybe Mixed use of Office and apartments / Hotel and at least be 30+ stories at the site next to the Odeon.

Full package of renderings for Caesar's hotel. Seems like they are going with previous renderings which look like a height of 202 feet. Wish it was taller, but glad to see it's moving along.

According to the plans it'll be 292ft at the top point, which isn't bad. That's about the same height as the Poydras Tower 2 blocks up. The placement of the tower running along the river being so wide should actually add some great visual density/drama to the skyline since most of the buildings are narrower. Seeing the upgrades for the casino is muchhhh improved over the current postmodern BS. The interior upgrades also look great. Really high end compared to the current Harrah's. Very excited to see this get going, will be great for downtown. I do hope they eventually reno to some extent the current Harrah's hotel tower to mimic the more modern/clean design of the casino/new tower. Either way this is a win for us.

Misread that. 292 feet is more inline with the original renderings and I think the interiors look fantastic. Much more upscale look that what is currently there.

Totally agree with you, I hope the next phase will be a taller tower than the Odeon and the idea of a mix used building is perfect you could have ground floor retail then maybe 15 stories of hotel rooms then about 20 floors of residential, topped off with a rooftop pool

I wonder if the parking connection really just means the parking garage thats built could service whats built next it , not necessarily enlarging the garage itself... does seem like the current parking space are way more than the odeon needs but either way good to see it was thought out

Also for anyone like me that really used the Bike Share system the city is signing a new Agreement with a non profit called Blue Krewe to run it. Looks like its the same employees that were managing the system before just under a new name.

I love how there is a literal speakeasy on the architectural plans, behind the women's restroom. The new food hall and meeting rooms are also a nice touch. Also nice to see the fillmore club is staying and will be moved upstairs. Looks like it will be a cool spot.

All in all, a big win for New Orleans! I can see this attracting some of the smaller scale fun conventions.

The one downside (which isn't even a real complaint) is I feel the Harrahs brand fits NOLA more than Caesars. I mean, are they going to put Mardis Gras beads over the bust of Caesar?

Anyone else wondering what the "Proposed Showroom" space on the second floor will be used for? I remember when the casino renovations were first proposed they reported that they would be adding the Caesars Omnia Nightclub on the second floor and I don't see that specified in the plans.

Ah, I was thinking of the Masquerade Lounge or whatever Harrahs calls it at the back of the casino.

I was wondering that also. An omnia style night club would add something that NOLA doesnt really have. Not really my thing but its a new amenity for the city. The biggest surprise is that i dont see a sports book anywhere. There is a small 5000sqft sports bar but i dont see a sport betting area anywhere. If this is true, then that is a total missed opportunity as i feel like NFL sundays at the sports book would be huge and its something that all the Mississippi casinos have one.

I'm curious what you all think about the food hall. If done right, this could be a cool addition that not just caters to the casino crowd.

Am I too optimistic or is a smaller version of St. Roch Market possible?

Agreed on all accounts, especially the sports betting. That would be a HUGE attraction to place a few bets and watch the game.

Theere will be a sports book area but the state hasnt actually passed the rules and laws for it yet so they cant show it on there... but i can assure you they have plans for one. Showroom is a little confusing , my guess is thats either a las vegas revuew style showroom replacing the one thats currently downstairs at harrahs or its more of a "market type" exhibition hall which is really just a fancy way of saying convention/exhibition space. Since that space is interior and not really part of design review its probably just in conceptual stage

One thing to note about the filmore is that while its in Harrah's it doesnt really have any affiliation with Caesars. So without that showroom , Caesars wouldnt have its own fully controlled event space
