I have a weird obssesion with comparing seasons in other cities.
I was in Kingston for Thanksgiving one year. The leaves were starting to change and it was absolutely stunning. It was also 25 degees and sunny. So jealous of the fall out east. They have all colours at once including green, and they stick around.
Calgary's fall:
Start seeing spashes of yellow in August. Then all the trees turn yellow at the same time in September and then fall off in 3 weeks. Then at last some bushes turn red and it's only middle of October. Then everything is brown until the snow covers it if it hasn't already knocked all the leaves off. It's sunny though most of the time. Hasn't rained since August.
Vancouver's fall:
Starts being cloudy in September. All the planted trees start turning all shades of beautiful colours. The natural trees stay green the longest and then turn yellow at the end of October. Leaves stick around until late November but you stopped noticing because it's been, dark, cloudy, and pouring every day. Coming from Calgary, I love rain but even for me it gets a little old here. Grass stays nice and green though.
So far Kingston blows the west out of the water.
Definitely need to go to Quebec in the fall.
