IHC to share renderings of Sears block “urban” hospital this Tuesday. One segment expected to be 20 stories.

*per Building SaltLake.

Bummer, was hoping for taller, but still glad it's something. Look forward to the renderings

This is welcome news. I'm looking forward to finally seeing what they have planned.

20 stories for a hospital still may be quite tall. The floors will be higher than 10 feet you see in apartment buildings. This will probably be a 300'+ tower still.

Not a lot of hospitals that are 20+ stories, especially in the US.

IHC murray is how many stories? 12? 14? How tall is it? 150 ft?

IHC Murray tops out around 220ft tall. So 6 or 7 more stories on the downtown tower could easily be a 300 footer. It would be one of the taller US hospitals as mentioned above.

Oh wow. 220? Really? It doesn't seem that tall. That said, you may be right about 300+. Fingers crossed

Tall hospital buildings are rare anywhere so we should consider ourselves lucky as long as the design isn’t an eyesore.

Bummer?! This place has very unrealistic expectations. So help me when the drawings come out and it’s 20 stories and we get a page of people saying “it’s ugly!”

It's ok to say "bummer" when hoping for taller. No biggie. I also stated I'm glad and excited for renderings.

Good news on the IHC project. Here's hoping for good street engagement.

Really like the Worthington. I think it might be one of my favorite towers in Salt Lake.

Yeah the Worthington turned out nicely, much better than the Astra.

Glad to hear there's finally going to be movement on the IHC Hospital. Feels like we've been waiting an eternity for those plans. Excited for the height and I'm not too worried about it being ugly. I'm more worried about the street engagement.

Based on what I could find, I would guess around 320 feet for a 20 story hospital tower. Hospitals typically have higher floor-to-floor heights than standard office buildings between 14 and 18 feet. That would be somewhere between 280 and 360 feet. Floor heights can average a bit higher depending on how specialized or state-of-the-art the facility is but I'm sure the tower is probably just one aspect of the larger block so that might be wishful thinking. Just my guess ahead of the reveal

A while back, Intermountain provided these images of other new facilities it has built. I think it will be good looking and modern but I too wonder what the street engagement will be like

Also curious what the parking situation will look like

The Stadler Canteen was open and serving the public for Yesterday's open house.

Several staff indicated that a factory expansion is actively in the works.
