As noted by Jonesy55, London stood at 70 murders with a population of just shy of 9mn as of the 22nd May. That is certainly up on previous years, although the April figure is down year-on-year, so February and March could have been outliers. I can’t see a conversation revolving around giving certain cities a pass.
Philadelphia with a population of 1.6mn had 116 murders as of the 24th May. Toronto has a third of the population, but only half the rate, so is higher when factoring in population.
