One of the best sets of this building I've seen lately.

You can really see the copper soffit in some of the pics. The details of this tower are fantastic.

The Color rendering off this building is never tiring.

By City of Rain Dec 15th:

More balcony glass is up
- makes some of the balcony openings (south and west facades) look more slit-like from the angle (when glass is reflective).

I really hope this project helps ushers in a new chapter of innovative and unique skyscraper design for Vancouver.

And the preservation and enhancement of covered areas under bridges and viaducts in this city, with ample city retail and commercial vibrancy in the pipeline.

It has to point, look at all thereat new projects moving forward (Jenga, Kumo, Butterfly, etc...).

That said I do understand the pessimism.

I thought that people seeing how much the Shangri-La and Trump add to the skyline and image of the city that they would become more relaxed with building heights. Yet despite these towers ironically being inseparable from the Vancouver image for most now, they are still finding more creative ways to limit tower heights.

I would agree that we are already seeing better designs.
The question is whether the market can bear added cost if the designs increase construction costs (i.e. changing formworks for every floor)

Even Richmond has some nicer designs (maybe because they are all midrise down there, so they need to distinguish themselves more from each other with design).

mcminsen, nice observation. Burrard One will also be seen above the trees here. Even more so, being on higher ground and a taller bldg.

I'll have to go back and take the same pic in about another year. It surprised me how Vancouver House alone is visible from this angle. It's quite a bit higher than all it's neighbours.

Thanks for the video. It's always nice to get a dynamic illustration.

I'm patiently waiting for at least 3 BIG things to occur:

-last protective film removed
-construction elevator removed
-top floor glass

And then we'll be really close to the final look for the tower.

When the Burrard Place tower is done, Vancouver House will have company: a taller companion. Pretty excited about that.
