My camera has a few in red and cyan but since the resolution is so low, you can't even notice them.

However inadequate and unaccomplished it makes me feel, I love your work Bryan. Congratulations on your book. It's on my Christmas list!

Wow, the 70's must have been an exciting time for downtown high-rise construction in Winnipeg. http://skyscraperpage.com/diagrams/?searchID=48349143

Trying to sell books to Winnipeggers? Well, at least nobody can say that you aren't up to a challenge!

Nonetheless, you did get some good publicity from Winnipeg Cat today.

Can I find the book in the Local Interest section at Chapters as well? I am going to be by Polo Park later this week.

If anyone, it's former Winnipeggers I expect to be most interested in the book (nostalgia, etc.).

For now, the book is only available for sale through the website.

This might not be of any interest to anyone, but i was just reading the thread on the The Abraj Al Bait Towers in Mecca and was amazed at it's size. Just for fun i compared it to the buildings in Winnipeg. It is absolutely mind boggling at how huge this structure is, and relatively how small our big buildings are.

Could you imagine this thing in Winnipeg? You would be able to see it from Calgary (joking of course).

click below.

Is it me or those new round-a-bouts the city has been placing seem to cause more of a problem? They install a circle into a square intersection. I don't know if all are like this but I have noticed in residential areas where the intersection is squared putting in a circle in the middle doesn't justify.

The idea of a traffic circle (which is not a roundabout) is to slow traffic and discourage it from using the root. They work well.

^ What if you live along the route? Can't wait for winter and lots of snow when the city high foreheads realize that roundabouts on narrow streets not originally designed for them don't work.

Then you use the route to get to a route that is actually designed to handle high traffic. Pretty simple.

These types of traffic circles exist in many winter laden cities without issue.

The problem in Winnipeg is that people love their cars, love to complain about anything and generally hate change of any type.

Honestly if they want to stop driving or reduce road usage I personally think this is the wrong way to go about that. Just by watching a few clips from the news and actually usage Emergency vehicles have a much harder time to use these "traffic circles".

I am not in fear of change or anything, I embrace it. The way they install these doesn't seem practical though. Slowing traffic to confusion if its pedestrian or vehicle seems to be what is happening. Obviously I am not a civil engineer but how does installing a circle in a square intersection help? Maybe if they actually picked an intersection where they could curve the corners so any vehicle is able to properly turn I can see them(traffic circles) being less confusing. Also better direction for and from all points of view.
